It sounds like you may have a bent hinge which is what the blade slides onto. Please call Andis customer service at 1-800-558-9441 to speak with a customer service rep. They can give you instructions on where to purchase a new hinge or send or clippers in for repair.

Thank you,

SOURCE: how to sharpen oster clipper

In order to sharpen these blades you must first dis-assemble them (paying particular attention to the way everything fits together), Next you need to get a piece of glass or something as flat as possible and tape a sheet of 180 grit emery paper with the rough side up. Then you put the upper blade on the emery paper wih the flat side down and stroke it back and forth in a straight line at least 100 strokes each way. Turn the blade over and examine the surface with a magnifying lens to see if you have honed the blade flat all the way across. Next turn the blade 90 degrees and again stroke the blade back and forth in a straight line. Turn the blade over and examine again to see if you have removed all the first series of strokes and the new set is flat from edge to edge. If so then put that blade aside and do the same thing to the lower blade until it is flat across and up and down. After reaching this stage you need to remove the 180 grit paper and go up to 230 grit paper and repeat the whole process. After completing the second stage you progress to 400 grit paper and repeat once again..
Make sure you keep the blades straight so the hone marks are up and down and from side to side and you should have an almost razor sharp cutting tool. Also DO NOT USE SAND PAPER only emery paper or cloth. I know this sounds like a lot of work but after you've done it a couple of times you can whip out a blade in about 20 minutes.

Check the tension of the hinge assembly which you slot your blades onto the hinge should be stiff (not moving by finger) also check the latch is connecting when the blades are fitted (check the blades wont pull off without depressing the latch. Its possible the blade drive may require replacing again they do not last long if your a busy groomer.

I have a Andis Agc2 clipper the Andis blade 33/4 blade is not cutting at all. I had it sharpened but it's still dull.

Send the clipper and the blade back to whoever did the sharpening for you and let them figure it out for you. It's not unknown for a sharpen to be "bad"

Oster clippers blade

John! No Problem!
First put the bigger of the two blades witht the size/number facing down, put the cutter on top. (with the side with the flat side of the teeth facing down) Then put the tongue guide inside the tension spring, make sure the tension spring rail is on the tension rail and place them on top of the cutter. To see which bits these are go to: http://www.sheareaseltd.com/clipper-blade-sharpening/clipper-blades-the-parts
This picture whows the front and back, it differs slightly from your blade, but its same meat different gravy!

Hold all this together with your finger and thumb, flip it over and scre the whole lot together!

Can i sharpen my electic trimmers using sandpaper

Things You'll Need: Three-sided blade sharpener (coarse, medium, fine) Small flat head screwdriver step 1 Using the flat head screwdriver, unscrew the trimmer blades and remove them carefully. Wipe off any oil, grime or dirt that has built up on them as this may make it more difficult to handle and keep them in place during the manual portion of the sharpening process. Step 2 Separate the blades and re-apply only the moving blade to the tension spring. Then apply the moving blade to sharpener surface and turn the clippers or trimmers on. Hold the moving blade on the surface of the sharpener and apply light pressure while moving the blade back and forth for one to two minutes. You can also lay the blade on the sharpener first, then put the trimmer tension spring directly on the blade. Step 3 Turn off the clippers and remove the moving blade. It should look shiny and feel sharper. Step 4 Remove the guide from the guide blade by unscrewing it using the flat head screwdriver. Place the guide blade on the sharpening surface and manually run it back and forth for about one or two minutes or until it's been sharpened to your satisfaction. Screw the guide back onto the guide blade while being careful to readjust it before you tighten the screws. Step 5 Screw all the blades back on the trimmers and power them on to make sure they've been fitted correctly. Test them on your own hair to make sure they've been sharpened correctly and are set to the desired depth. Ads by Google Best Knife Sharpener Sharpen like the pros. Complete kit w/ 1x30 belt sander. If they are very dull, you will want to start with the coarse or medium side of the sharpener. If they just need a small amount of sharpening, use the fine side. If you've never sharpened electric trimmers before, you may want to visually observe and feel the sharpness of the blades with your fingers before you start to sharpen it. It may be hard to tell if the blades are sharp enough if you don't feel them just before you apply them to the sharpening surface.

Hi, used a blade sharpener for my a2 horse clipper blades and they are still blunt. Do i sharpen between the teeth

no . The blades are sharpened by grinding away the base of the wear until the edges between the teeth are sharp. It also necessary for the tension between the cutting blades is correct other wise the cutting teeth ride up over the hair and will not cut. Have a person who does sharpening of knives ,scissors and blades sharpen the clippers for you as the machine will get it right.

hi, not sure of the sharpener you have but to be honest it is very hard to sharpen blades getting the correct hollow grind is essential we receive lots of blades that have been ruined by other sharpening companies.

Blades are not cutting

hi, yes blades can wear out but your sharpener should advise if there is a problem with them. check to make sure the clipper is moving your blades and your blade cannot be removed without depressing the latch. If your are experiencing tram lines with larger blades then it is more likely to be a clipper problem. However if your blades just wont cut i would recommend a new sharpener as it is a specialist area.

How do I contact Ellen by email Hello my name is Catherine Vasquez OrtizI am 47 years old I suffer from a Neurological Disorder Called Fredrich's Ataxia. I also two brothers who suffer from the disorder. The disease is not curable and as we get older it progresses even more causing blindness the ability to walk and heart failure. It can also cause the ability to do personal things such as personal hygiene, getting dressed, feeding ourselves, the inability to use our hands and slurred speech leading into the ability to speak. The disease is similar to MS but only worse. We found out the Ataxia came upon us at the age of the late 30's. Every case is different. A child can be born with and in other CA we s the onset can start in your teens. I am writing to to you because I set up a donation page to reach my goal of 3000.00 dollars. The reason for this is because I can no longer walk. I use a wheelchair to get around. The wheelchair that I have been is falling apart and due to my home which is not handicap accessible and the chair I presently have weighs around 20 to 2 4 pounds and it's just me so I have to load it and unload it from my vehicle will and at this point it's getting harder and harder to do on my own. So I've been looking into other wheelchairs and found the perfect one. It is called a Quickie Litea or a Ti Lite and the chair will be Customized to fit my body frame and the wheels pop right off which makes the chair only 9 to 10 pounds. I can pick up this chair very easily with no help what so ever. The reason, why the chair is so expensive is because it is customized to fit my body frame perfectly and also because of the weight of the chair, the lighter the chair the more money they are. I have seen some that go for. 4000.00 to 5000.00 but the Jay 13 is the one that I have chosen only because it because it will maneuver easily in my home that is not wheelchair or handicap accessible. I am in the process of trying to get help on making my home handicap accessible. What I am asking for is just the wheelchair so I can maneuver around with no problems because I don't know how long I will have to wait for my home until the time comes when I can make my home handicap accessible I can share some stories with you on how I've been treated die to my disability and I really cant blame them because they have no knowledge of this disorder. When I was able to walk and I don't mean perfectly I have been blamed for being drunk when I walked, I have had my bank teller call the police and state that I'm drunk by the my slurred speech they pulled me over and I advised them that I do not drink and the reason my speech is slurred is because of my disability thank goodness my son was in the car with so he could explain also about my disability. Then another time I was walking out of a 7 11 and yet again the police pulled me over on this night I was alone and I always keep a laminated script explaining my disability and the police told me that could be fake so at that point I pulled out my handicap placement tag and I was already frustrated because he accused me of having a fake script, so I pulled out the placement tag and I asked him and this is fake also? At that point he knew I was telling the truth. Another episode happened whenI I went to dinner with my family. I ordered anew unsweetened ice tea and the waitress told me. Yeah I think you've already had too much to drink, I was offended so I asked to converse with a manager so he came to the table and yet again I was accused of being drunk he harboured with me and it was so loud everyone in the restaurant could hear I even indicated that I was parked the handicap space but he wasn't buying that so he immediately kicked us out in front of all the customers I have never been embarrassed like that before and he did this in front of my kids and family. This has happened to me on 5 or so occassions. This is the kind of stuff I deal with all the time, so from then on I got into a wheelchair because I was a so tired of happening to me. As time went on I found myself needing to use the wheelchair. The wheelchair I own right is falling apart and is way to heavy for me. I also have chronic back pain due to my disability I have a really bad case of scoliosis. You can look at my back see how one side is protruding out. And again there is nothing they can do about it they say it's part of my disability. This is another reason for me needing the chair it has cushioning the rear area and the sitting area. I've spoken with doctor's about this chair and they advised me that this Jay 13 will take a lot of the pressure that I have off my spine but unfortunately the insurance doesn't pay for that chair. This is why I'm asking for donations to help me get this chair. I don't get paid enough on my disability I am on a Very Low Income and can't afford this chair so I am asking you for help. Once I reach my goal I can get fitted for the chair, and they can start building the customizable chair for me. So if you can help me reach my goal I couldn't Thank you Enough. Ataxia is a rare disorder but if you look it up you wouldn't believe how many people suffer from this. When I first pulled it up I was in s hock how many kids, adults and seniors have it! I'm even going to USF for clinical trials to fine, a cure but still no luck? Again any help you can donate so I can reach my goal will help! Again thank you for taking the time to read my story and thank you for all the support Sincerely, Catherine Vasquez Ortiz PS: Attached you will see the WHEELCHAIR I'm looking for My address is as follows Catherine Vasquez 2728 W Beach St Tampa Florida 33607 My contact number is ************ I am hoping you can help.I wish my home was handicap accessible but I can't afford to do renovations as I am on a Very Low income, I didn't know where else to turn to. I am hoping you receive the my email. And take the time to read it you have Any questions for me please feel free to contact me at the above number.Again Thank You.
