SOURCE: Putting blade back on my Andis dog clipper

It sounds like you may have a bent hinge which is what the blade slides onto. Please call Andis customer service at 1-800-558-9441 to speak with a customer service rep. They can give you instructions on where to purchase a new hinge or send or clippers in for repair.

Thank you,

SOURCE: how to sharpen oster clipper

In order to sharpen these blades you must first dis-assemble them (paying particular attention to the way everything fits together), Next you need to get a piece of glass or something as flat as possible and tape a sheet of 180 grit emery paper with the rough side up. Then you put the upper blade on the emery paper wih the flat side down and stroke it back and forth in a straight line at least 100 strokes each way. Turn the blade over and examine the surface with a magnifying lens to see if you have honed the blade flat all the way across. Next turn the blade 90 degrees and again stroke the blade back and forth in a straight line. Turn the blade over and examine again to see if you have removed all the first series of strokes and the new set is flat from edge to edge. If so then put that blade aside and do the same thing to the lower blade until it is flat across and up and down. After reaching this stage you need to remove the 180 grit paper and go up to 230 grit paper and repeat the whole process. After completing the second stage you progress to 400 grit paper and repeat once again..
Make sure you keep the blades straight so the hone marks are up and down and from side to side and you should have an almost razor sharp cutting tool. Also DO NOT USE SAND PAPER only emery paper or cloth. I know this sounds like a lot of work but after you've done it a couple of times you can whip out a blade in about 20 minutes.

Check the tension of the hinge assembly which you slot your blades onto the hinge should be stiff (not moving by finger) also check the latch is connecting when the blades are fitted (check the blades wont pull off without depressing the latch. Its possible the blade drive may require replacing again they do not last long if your a busy groomer.

I have a Andis Agc2 clipper the Andis blade 33/4 blade is not cutting at all. I had it sharpened but it's still dull.

Send the clipper and the blade back to whoever did the sharpening for you and let them figure it out for you. It's not unknown for a sharpen to be "bad"

Oster clippers blade

John! No Problem!
First put the bigger of the two blades witht the size/number facing down, put the cutter on top. (with the side with the flat side of the teeth facing down) Then put the tongue guide inside the tension spring, make sure the tension spring rail is on the tension rail and place them on top of the cutter. To see which bits these are go to: http://www.sheareaseltd.com/clipper-blade-sharpening/clipper-blades-the-parts
This picture whows the front and back, it differs slightly from your blade, but its same meat different gravy!

Hold all this together with your finger and thumb, flip it over and scre the whole lot together!

I have an Oster dog clipper Model 103582-010-000 and would like to know what blades I can use, also where I can get an owners manual. Thanks, Dan

Blades are available online at

But once the plastic clip that mounts the blade to the unit brakes you are screwed. Oster can't supply that anymore. You can always sharpen the blades and make sure you keep them lubricated going forward. Google sharpening clipper blades to find instructions.

Can i sharpen my electic trimmers using sandpaper

Things You'll Need: Three-sided blade sharpener (coarse, medium, fine) Small flat head screwdriver step 1 Using the flat head screwdriver, unscrew the trimmer blades and remove them carefully. Wipe off any oil, grime or dirt that has built up on them as this may make it more difficult to handle and keep them in place during the manual portion of the sharpening process. Step 2 Separate the blades and re-apply only the moving blade to the tension spring. Then apply the moving blade to sharpener surface and turn the clippers or trimmers on. Hold the moving blade on the surface of the sharpener and apply light pressure while moving the blade back and forth for one to two minutes. You can also lay the blade on the sharpener first, then put the trimmer tension spring directly on the blade. Step 3 Turn off the clippers and remove the moving blade. It should look shiny and feel sharper. Step 4 Remove the guide from the guide blade by unscrewing it using the flat head screwdriver. Place the guide blade on the sharpening surface and manually run it back and forth for about one or two minutes or until it's been sharpened to your satisfaction. Screw the guide back onto the guide blade while being careful to readjust it before you tighten the screws. Step 5 Screw all the blades back on the trimmers and power them on to make sure they've been fitted correctly. Test them on your own hair to make sure they've been sharpened correctly and are set to the desired depth. Ads by Google Best Knife Sharpener Sharpen like the pros. Complete kit w/ 1x30 belt sander. If they are very dull, you will want to start with the coarse or medium side of the sharpener. If they just need a small amount of sharpening, use the fine side. If you've never sharpened electric trimmers before, you may want to visually observe and feel the sharpness of the blades with your fingers before you start to sharpen it. It may be hard to tell if the blades are sharp enough if you don't feel them just before you apply them to the sharpening surface.

hi, not sure of the sharpener you have but to be honest it is very hard to sharpen blades getting the correct hollow grind is essential we receive lots of blades that have been ruined by other sharpening companies.

Blades are not cutting

hi, yes blades can wear out but your sharpener should advise if there is a problem with them. check to make sure the clipper is moving your blades and your blade cannot be removed without depressing the latch. If your are experiencing tram lines with larger blades then it is more likely to be a clipper problem. However if your blades just wont cut i would recommend a new sharpener as it is a specialist area.
