Question about Adapters.com CAT 5 LAN Computer Network Patch Cable RJ45 10/100 BaseT with Boots 25' (RJ45RJ45115225)

Boot up problem

I have a 4 year old HP Pentium 950 series with MS XP -home OS. My computer will work for a while, boot up and all then it stops and when I try to boot up it gives a dos message that says "operating system not found." I have just looked into setup and the primary and slave are greyed out. My DVD doesn't play sound - it plays though. If my sound card is going out could it be affecting my boot up?
Help me! I don't want to buy another computer if I can get this one to work again. After it gives me the DOS message above, it might be 3 weeks, with constant trying to boot up - maybe 25 times or so, them viola! - it boots up. Thank you for your assistance.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

How to turn on hp zd8000 wireless switch

old relic (retired and legacy) Pentium 4 dog.
wow no details at all.
what switch, where? the HP special one for wifi?
what OS, XP? ? windows XP the dead virus magnet PC?
the switch needs the HP driver to work.
use ethernet cable instead.
If the full Wlan wifi driver is installed, from HP
all that works.
Broadcom 802.11b/g Wireless LAN 54G
HP has no support for this old PC
MS has no support for XP or Vista. no OS stated by you at all.
the card is so ask Broadcom for you driver.
that the last resort.
BCM94318mpg
AT BROADCOM, it shows OBSOLETE
i see lots of folks on line begging for this cards driver.
and no success now.2018
id up grade it, to newest WPA2 card, lacking the KRACK
venerability !

HP has no issues with it, its near obsolete. 10 years old.
HP drops support after 10years
no OS stated, is this the virus magnet XP or now dead VISTA
that matters big time, the OS, state that first.
all hardware can be fixed. all can,! deep pockets and lots of spare time. sure.
all old PCs freeze!, for many reasons.
top causes (my worthless guess only fate wins is true )
1: virus infected , x
2: the main battery is shorted, take it out run on AC all day.
3: coin cells fail, all do , not one lasts 10 years (2-5 is spec from top maker ('copper top")
4: spilled drinks into IT.
5: HDD bad. dead or failing and freezing, sure. vast PCs are put in the land fill for this alone when you see price of the fix.
(new HDD + new cost of new OS + labor) ouch

now the HP point finger thing, sure there are limons.
many (vast) 2008 laptops had the GPU Nvidia solderballs from H3LL failure, HP and you victim.

if the screens does not do crazy things, its not Solderballs.
your PC came with VISTA new. is it still vista after 10 long years?
VISTA support ended at MS this spring
this makes getting vista drivers from MS real hard if not inpossible.
that leaves only HP page for driver, lucky you not deleted yet
see that word yet, hint hint get em which you still can now.

here.
the RTC battery coin cell is beach to change, page 62 and must be.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00853874

the software for vista is here, (official) not fake or infected
as others post here (spam bs)

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-tx1000-notebook-pc-series/3185026/model/3185027

so if you put in any linux disk CD and boot if the Linux runs ok
then you lean in 5min that the OS on the HDD is bad or the HDD is bad.
things to check
fan blows? no packed in lint or overheating all vents clear.
COIN cell new? 2.9v to 3.3v good below that not good at all.
run a HDD test yet, that be next. in order here.
the BIOS can have a HDD test if lucky most do 2006 up. years.
The linux disk has nice smart test, for DISK
shown here.
see smart and full disk test using a boot LIVE LINUX
also ubuntu 17 disk, (boot stick) question one is LIVE
pick live and then pick search , try disk , pick disk
see here how. this is how I test all HDD,
http://www.pcdied.com/linux.html

I do it that way so corrupted VISTA cant get in the way of TRUTH.

a1514s are relics now, called LEGACY by HP
with the old Intel Pentium 4 (2006 release date)
so you think a P4 can run 2 monitors? wow.
means zero support from HP, and omg XP
XP is dead, now, MS and HP do not support, XP and is a virus magnet.
learn that old HP did not HAVE the magic auto switch in bios back in the dark ages.
you must go in to BIOS and flip the switch there.
1 binary bit.
the oldest made A1500 is now 17 years old we scrap these
or sell them to N.Korea so his stinking nukee/ABCM controls fail.
(LOL)
old old old box
in bios, hit F10 go in to bios;
and turn off the local GPU chip
then with the card inserted, boot the pc and it can work
if not, try all Xpress slots there.
deep in the parts surfer shows
NARRA2-GL8E
that is your mobo type.
hp has only these pages on it, using deep searches at HP old archive .
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01080282/

so is only 1 X16 slot there.
there is no service manuals free
no bios manuals, i can find, zero.
so you get to do like all techs do , is look in the bios
and find it and flip the bit,(onboard vGA/GPU OFF)
and if there, set search order, GPU.
onboard/slot
to slot /onboard.
that is all on relic mobos

it will not make a gaming system, at all,
its too weak if that is the unstated goal.

I use hp nx9010, i want to re-install windows xp but any time i try, the machine shutdown. sometimes is able to move up to copping files sometimes not then shutdown; i don't understand why is only windows...

well that is so easy to answer,
first off you are not using real HP disks are you.
sure. its old Blue Microsoft disks right,
and when you do that wrong, you get no HP chip drivers and lost more missing, even top row, fn keys dead, not just audio.

XP is a dead OS. for 3 years now, zero updates and is now a virus magnet extream.
nx9010 note book shuts down, all 3 os install different. !
old XP runs a very old and very DUMBB seteup.,exe
the newer OS run WINPE for setup.exe. vastly better and boots and loads the OS totally different.

Xp can be installed many ways, not one stated by you.

1-insert, HP install disk in CDROM drive and click, setup.exe running in a XP explorer window, live install
2: boot to HP install disk.
3: boot and hit F11 run HPs on HDD restore partition.
4: same as a above 1, or 2, but is Micro soft disk (wrong, you did it wrong, do not use mS disk) if must ask how, its a long long long story. ive done it all ways, 1000s of time. now since first PC.s ever.

if booting to XP , right or wrong CD. (its a CD right<)> or a stick
that too not stated,
it boots and you answer questions, then it starts copying
if it stalls that means, the CD is bad.
or PC is bad, you do know there are 3million transistors here to fail right? bad HDD, bad Mobo, and more. lots more
even the CPU can over heat and will shut down.

Personally I avoid all CD nows, they sux'd then and do now more.
make and ISO of your CD, (ask its easy and free)
then burn the ISO to a 4GB or bigger uSB memory stick using free RUFUS app.
boot to stick. on my HP hit F9 and pick Udisk USB. boot
bingo no more CD errors ever again.

i bet bad CD. seen it vast times, endless , but not today. too savvy now. to mess with any CD, if you copy it to ISO and get CRC errors
its a bad CD.
end pain.

the problem with real old PC most cant boot to USB
or must be BIOS flashed updated to get that.
ill now ill try to learn what yours can or can not do.
lacking ,what is there now.
but id do this first. go in to BIOS BOOT PAGE

What is the default boot order? The default boot order settings for the computer are configured in the factory. The default boot order for HP notebook PCs is listed below.
  1. Floppy disk drive
  2. Optical drive (DVD, CD-ROM)
  3. Hard drive
  4. USB device (see this?) bingo, can boot and install any OS here
  5. Network adapter

WoW, that one is a good one.
If you are using Windows OS go to device manager, hardware, uninstall or remove device (DVD player).
Turn off the computer HARD BOOT/Cold Boot, not just reboot.
Start the computer and it should find your DVD add the drivers and install them. That should do it.
NOT all Windows versions are exactly the same, but, once you get to the device manager you should find remove/add devices.

Yes it is best to format the PC and reload the OS again although I would suggest that you load the latest version of the WinXP family as single boot OS and work. It should give lesser problems with a single genuine anti-virus installed.......sodeep

Hp1118x computer "crashed". (got message "boot.... error, insert recovery disc". Operating syst. CD, old aol CD, Norton CD, MSW critical sec updates CD, LOADED, and seem to be working. ...

Hp 1118x
what model?
a1118x? circa 2006 (11 years old?()
left off the "A"
a DESKTOP
now retired by HP
https://support.hp.com/us-en/retired-products

and by MS, Microsoft.com
dead product and OS
loading is SERIAL not parallel processes.
the OS is first
is your PC XP oS?
is it BSOD'ing with the blue screen of *****>?

driver recovery is not OS recovery at all.

the PC does not boot XP does it.
so if the F10 (or F10 )recover feature is dead.
power on F10 key or F11
the restore runs and fixes this.
if restore is dead
the HDD can be dead.
hard drive.
in this case you need, a new hdd and a real HP CD set to install XP, (microsoft does not sell xp now)
neither does, HP.

please post, full symptoms.
of the OS, first.
what is on the screen when it fails

all I know is
boot.... error,
if that is it, then it is it the hdd is dead
the boot files missing or the OS is corrupted full of virus as all XP machines are.

find a newer pc, with w7 is best , no really
or find a XP disk, (had to find 15 years ago made)

if you try to upgrade this pc, you will find the
realtek chips LAN dead. and they have no newer drivers.
a worning.... that is why its best to buy
all used computers (2017 view) with a COA sticker on the bottom with Windows 7 license or newer.
0r spend for ever looking for driver that do not exist.
LACKING HP media kit CDs that dont exist for w7
