on my gas cooktop, all ignitors spark when any knob is turned to lite (normal i assume). However, once that burner ignites, they all continue to spark simultaneously and constantly unless the knob is turned down to medium or below. So you can only cook from low to medium without the ignitors firing constantly. All burners do the same thing. I just installed this stove. It is used but in good condition. What is going on?

I have this very same problem! My GE gas cooktop is 15 years old but recently (6 mos or so) has started this same problem. Solution?

I have had the same problem with my GE Monogram cooktop since 8 years ago. In my case, it tends to click non-stop if the most-used burner is turned on. Once it starts nothing seems to help. I also had problem with GE dual oven which has control panel problem which causes error messages and beeping sounds all the time until fuse switch is off. I replaced the control panel for about $300 but it started to do the exact same thing after about 1 year. So, now I simply turn off the fuse switch when not in use. It seems as though all GE products are made to work reliably only for 1 year which is the warranty period. Only reason I have GE applicances in my house is because it was built in when I bought the house. I will never buy GE appliances for the rest of my life. They are nothing but garbage. No wonder, recently, GE CEO Immelt announced that he plans to sell the appliance division. It is about time that American appliance companies shape up to improve the reliability to compete with forign companies just as they did for automobiles.

My GE Profile propane gas cook top was just installed yesterday. When I go to turn on one of the burners, all of the ignitors click. This can't possibly be normal. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, thats okay when you turn the knob voltage gets sent to the spark module, Then the module sparks all the burner igniter. And frame ignition only happens on the single burner of the knob you turned that sends gas to the burner associated with that knob.

Please rate me a "4" if this information was useful.

The igniter doesn't work at all. If I turn any knob to the ignite setting, you can hear the gas coming out but there is no ticking sound, and therefore no ignition. Can I fix this myself?

The igniter on the right front burner of my GE Gas cooktop does not work....I must use a lighter or match to ignite....What can I do? There is no clicking sound when I turn on the burner?

all burner igniters work at the same time - you may have a faulty electronic spark unit. change the spark unit. go to repair clinic dot come for the unit. also would be wise to check the ingniter start switch on the gas burner control knob
