If your using XP... You can access system restore from Start,All Programs,Accessories,System Tools - System restore. This only takes your pc registry back to a previous state. If it is enabled!

Tips for a great answer:
You may have installed every
softwares on your System Drive (typically C:/, where the OS is installed). Try to install them on other partitions, this
will free up some spaces.
You may try with Disk Cleanup
utility. To use it go to: Start> All
Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Disk CleanUp. This will ask you which of the disk to be cleaned
up. Select the desired System Drive Letter and click on OK. You may delete
Windows Error reporting files, System error memory dump files from there. You can also delete older restore points by
clicking on Clean Up System Files. Select
System drive letter as before and click on more
options. Under System Restore and
shadow copies click clean up. This will
remove all but the latest restore point.
Hope this helps, Mrityunjay
