How to know that my
motherboard is failure? Suddenly my DELL D610
stopped working. I have changed the battery and power adopter, still it is not
powering ON. Is that indicating that it is motherboard problem? Your solution will be much appreciated!
It seems to be a problem with motherboard as you said you have replaced power supply and ac adaptor , try disconnecting external pheripherals do a flea power it doesnot start then you will have to replace motherboard

if the AC adapter LED goes out when connected to the power connection of the system, then the failure is most likely the motherboard has failed.
Try a different AC adapter, if no change then motherboard
Pretty simple to determine. Most D610's have 2 memory modules, remove one, see if the problems stop. If they continue, then try the other module. If the issue is associated with only 1 RAM module, then that is most likely the point of failure and replace that module.
If problem exists with both modules, but is associated with only 1 for the RAM slots (Say both work fine in slot A, error occurs with both in slot B) then the motherboard is most likely the failure point.
Regardless, you can run the diagnostics (Fn Key plus power Button) without a printer attached too.
If you are still covered by the warranty, tell dell techsupport all the parts that were already replaced, and i believe the next part that needs to be replaced is the Motherboard, and heatsink. Hope this helps
there is a short circuit onnthe laptop motherboard usually it's power ic's that are next to the power socket that block the power from going to other parts so you should change those ic's
What needs to be done is the jack that your adaptor plugs into has solder points underneath it. All the solder points need to be resoldered to make sure that there are no cracks in the solder that are preventing the jack from charging your battery.
After this is done if the laptop still isn't charging then if you know for sure your using the correct ac adaptor with your laptop then at that point the moterboard would have to be replaced.
Remove all drives, Memory and wireless cards, see if the indication changes. If no change, replace the motherboard. If they change, add memory back one module at a time, see if the system will post. If one does, then the other is bad.
The light indicator for the battery is; green-charging, yellow-battery failure, and red-charging system failure. The charging system failure happens when the power management chip fails. The pm chip regulates and controls the power input & usage, allows the machine to switch from AC to battery, and cotrols the charging. This will also cause the problem with the power button not workin or being hard to start. Unfortunately, the motherboard will have to be replaced in order to fix this.
