Alien is right, pull the Radio Fuse, then put it back in and eject the CD/DVD. Happens to me sometimes with burned DVDs, seems like the player is picky on the CD/DVD media. Rebooting the device (by pulling the fuse) is the only way to eject it.
As for temporary use you can use a simple method. You may see a small hole below the disc inserting cabin. Push the eject button and have a pin inserted well into the hole. the dvd player will eject in a matter of seconds.
Actually, the problem can occur as a result of aging or someone or something must have applied so much force on the player such that the dvd cabin is misplaced. If you cant find the hole, struck the top of your dvd player hard, after pressing the eject button. Two or three tries must help.
I had the same problem, CD not accepted by unit and pressing source button to select CD player causes unit to display reset. Using reset button just causes unit to 'whir' for a while, problem is not solved. Firstly with unit switched off, and the ignition off I inserted a CD using some gentle force, I then inserted a second CD, forcing it in over the top of the first. Next I pressed and held the reset button for a short time before releasing it. Both CDs were ejected, when the unit had stopped I took the CDs out, replaced the front panel and turned on the ignition, The unit will now accept CDs and eject them O.K.
(This did take two attempts to get right). Seems to reset the eject status of the CD player.
The player thiinks the CD is still in the player. you have a shorted or open sensor. Usually thee players have 3 phto sensors to tell the controller that a Disc is inserted , or ejected or present. Sometimes a wire or piece of lint covers a sensor and makes the controller think the CD is still there. Get you a can of Air from Radio Shack and blow out the DVD drive You might get lucky and this do the job.
