There is a problem with your bios firmware or nvram. to fix this you can try to reflash your bios, but doing so needs an expertise because if something goes wrong in the process you wont be able to use your laptop again but if still interested just send me a message and ill give you a detailed instruction

Got a similar prob, won't reach windows, had 'fault with mother board' code when booting up for 18 months before it packed up, used to just press esc and it would run as normal, tried to reloaded windows, it goes through the process initially then freezes up. Don't want to buy new mother board only to find out its something else.

How to restore corrupted BIOS of presario cq60 laptop

Whenever you upgrade the BIOS on your notebook, a copy of the previous version is stored in the HP TOOLS partition of your hard disk drive. Many HP notebook computers have an emergency BIOS recovery feature that allows you to recover and install the last known good version of the BIOS from the hard drive, as long as the hard drive remains functional. This emergency recovery feature is separate from the BIOS and is designed to work in the event of a catastrophic BIOS failure. To recover an earlier version of the BIOS on your notebook:
  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Plug the notebook into power using the power adapter.
  3. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key down at the same time while the computer is off.
  4. Still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the notebook for 3 seconds and then release the Power button and the keys. The screen remains blank for about 40 seconds before anything appears on the display. You might also hear beeping sounds. Eventually, an HP BIOS Update screen displays.note.pngNOTE:If the computer fails to display an HP BIOS Update screen, press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds to turn off the computer. Wait 5 seconds and try again. If, after repeated attempts, you cannot open the HP BIOS Update screen, your computer does not support this function or it has a hardware problem that is preventing the tool from opening.Figure 1: HP BIOS Update screenc03376208.jpg
  5. When the BIOS has been recovered, a Continue Startup button displays and timer counts down. You can click Continue Startup to restart the computer or you can allow the timer to reach zero and the computer will restart automatically.Figure 2: HP BIOS Update screenc03376209.jpg
  6. After restoring the BIOS, if the computer repeatedly displays a message that the BIOS has been reset, then perform the steps in HP BIOS Application Selected is Corrupt or Missing .
  7. After restarting, Windows may display a message stating that the computer was improperly shut down or that a boot problem was detected. Read and respond to the screens to continue.

Hp nx6110, stays in a boot-up loop

Hi, If you are sure that it's not overheating, then it could be the hard drive.
A boot up loop is an indication that the boot up sector on the hard drive is corrupt and broken. The hard drive tries to find this boot sector to boot up your computer but it can't. It keeps trying to find it again and again and again and keeps looping. Hank

When I boot the system of my laptop (Campaq nx 6110), the machine freezes at the logo of HP while booting. when it reaches that stage it freezes.

Set your system BIOS to boot from Hard Drive and check if the BIOS detect your Hard Drive too. Remove your Hard Drive and Place it again.

It will fix your problem.

Computer has a virus. Want to format drive and reintall windows but when I try to read cd off of desktop the pointer becomes busy and sort of freezes any operation.

If you plan to reformat the hdd, just boot the unit off the cd. you may have to go into the BIOS setup and change the boot order so that it accesses the cdrom first. In most HP systems you can access the BIOS setup by hitting f10 key during the boot stage.

XP won't load onto hard drive.

Start the computer and press the f8 key as if to start in sage mode, but select the "Disable system reboot on error" (not sure of the exact wording on that). Then when the BSOD hits it will stay there so you can get the error number and message.

Alot of times these are memory errors so I would also suggest that you download a program called memtest 86. It is a small ISO file that will create a bootable cd to test the memory. You can get it from:

Hope this helps

DriveLock HDD Bay Password

hello,

Will your NX6110 allow you to get into the Bios before the drive lock password coes up? If it doesnt and you dont know the password, you have two options. One being to send the laptop off somewhere to get the password an pay thru the nose. The other is just to buy another hard drive and re-load your system. Those passwords are build into the hard drives and there is really no way to get the password easily. You could of course pay for a machine that will hopefully get your password, but why pay all that money just to use it once, or twice. It comes down to the facts of how importand is the data on your hard drive?
