Motorola SB5101 Modem

I have just recently gotten the internet and for the first couple of weeks the modem worked just fine. We went to log on to the internet and it is not working. When we troubleshoot the problem it says no modem detected. I go into the device manager and check the comport, the modem connection and I made sure everything was enabled that should be. Do you have any idea what might be wrong???? Please help

I don't see where there is a place on the back to reset the modem. Any other suggestions? I appreciate your help.

I cant get my motorola sb5101 surf board cable modem to connect to a belkin g wireless router. the light on the belkin flashes orange when i try to connect it to the modem but no internet connection

I have a similar problem. The common denominator seems to be the SB5101. I have a brand new Belkin Surf 300N, same issue. The modem will not give DHCP to the router. I can connect fine via ethernet to the modem directly.
This modem seems to be a dinosaur.

My modem randomly disconnects and reconnects and has been doing so the past month, is it my router?

I have been experiencing the same problems recently for the past 3 weeks and I had the same modem going on 5 years with no problems so, I replaced it with another exact model still same problems. I have the cable people coming out next week and, I will get back with you with the solution.

Motorola cable modem sb5101 the receive light blink an the same as the send light

If you are able to access the internet this is a normal operating status. These lights are just letting you know there is activity present with the modem and the modem is sending and receiving information with your provider.

My Motorola Sb5101 modem will not let me access the internet, the send light constantly flashes and i can't attain any internet connection.

If you have the following lights :
Power light - on
Receive light - flashing
Send light - flashing
Online light - off
PC/Activity - on
Standby - off
Then your Network Access is OFF - modem is successfuly registered but Network Access Control is disabled via DOCSIS configuration file.

Call your internet service provider....

Can't acces internet by using Motorola SB5101

You need to input IP and DNS information in windows. I can only help you where to input but you need to contact your ISP for IP address.

Trying to get my ps3 connected so i can get online

You need to disable the UPnP function on the Belkin router. Log into the router(192.168.2.1), and look under System Settings. If you haven't changed the password on the router, the default password is blank, i.e., no password.

SB5101 Motorola Modem Disconnects Randomly

If all the lights go out I would assume you mean the power light as well. Couple of things I would look at:

Has your ISP replaced the modem including the power adapter?
Has your ISP verified there is no short on the incoming data cable? You could try to wiggle the incoming data cable to see if the lights go out. I would do the same on the power cable.

If it's not a mechanical fault (cables), verify that you have the correct and current drivers for your modem and operating system.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

Motorola SB5101 port forwarding

Try putting 192.168.100.1 in the address box of a web browser. If the modem is provided by your ISP you might need to call them if that won't work.
