When you click on the link again and then click the Save button, a dialog box opens that indicates the folder to which it will/already did save to. To figure out where exactly that location is, when the dialog box is open you should see across the top the path to that folder. Another option, is when that dialog box is open, you can then change it to your Desktop and save it again there. That should be pretty easy to find.

Lost of product key

Hello and welcome to FixYa.

(A) If you have already windows installed and running, in order to view their product key, you can do the following:

1. Download Magic Jelly Bean KeyFinder (latest is v2.01) and follow instructions on link. - Works for WinXP, you only need to install then run the program on your computer.

2. Download WinGuggle and follow instructions on link. - Works for BOTH Windows Vista and Windows 7, again only need to install then run.
(Other really cool utility for almost all windows and office versions HERE)

(B) If you only have the disk of your windows and no label with key, and you formatted your computer already you can do the following:

1. Follow the steps provided---> here. OR here. - For WinXP.

2. Follow the steps provided---> here. - For Windows Vista, Windows 7. To sum-up on this matter, the key in windows vista/7 is encrypted, separated from the actual DVD. So you can either
request another one as replacement from Microsoft as stated in the article or use the windows 7 activator to somewhat (not legal) activate it. No idea how to do the second one, haven't tried it just heard about it.

Regards from Fixya.

Whenever i turn it on it stays for 5minutes then swiych itself off

You obviously have a lot of processes running in the background. Here is a link for the minimum processes you need for win xp:

http://billmullins.wordpress.com/2009/04/18/the-bare-minimum-processes-needed-to-run-windows-xp/

To see how many processes you have running do this:

1. Place your mouse on the task bar and right click
2. Pick task manager
3. you will see a tab that says processes. Look at the bottom of the page on the left side. It will say Processes : #. Anything over the above links # 10, are programs running in the background that you do not need to have running all the time.

When you install ANY program to your computer, be sure to read every page that comes up when installing. If there is an option/check mark that says something like: "start at windows start up" or "run when windows starts", uncheck it. You do not need to have anything but the operating system files load up when your computer starts. Whatever you download will still be there, it just wont be in the background running taking up memory and resources. When ever you need whatever you downloaded, just go to that program and open it.

With the exception of your virus protection, you should keep these processes as low as possible.

TO CLOSE PROCESSES YOU DON'T NEED;

1. On the processes tab as stated above, right click on the processes you don't need, then hit "end process". You should see the number at the bottom go down. Don:t worry, if it is an operating system file that you should not end, it will not let you.

Next time you start your computer, these will all come back UNLESS, you find out what each process goes to, go to that program and find where the option to start at windows start up is and uncheck it.

This should shut down your computer a lot faster and run faster too. Good luck

Transferred hard drives. now hallmark card studio says missing ISSscript.msi file. Where do I download that or find it on my software?

Hey, are you trying to reinstall the program, or just running it on another hard-drive?
Try reinstalling the program first, then if it still wont work there is a tutorial here: http://consumerdocs.installshield.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=Q108158&sliceId=1
It has download links for the file.
Hope that helps,

Fliptoast will not go away! I have deleted it from every file location that I could find and the recycle bin, but it persists to reappear on my desktop. Also an 'application install' box appears with it...

I had the same problem when I tried to uninstall, so I went to my control panel, programs then uninstall a program, right clicked on flip toast and clicked on change, then it gives you options to remove or to change, click remove then it will ask to run something allow it then it will remove it from your computer.

Hello, I have Vista and everytime after my computer boots, I get a pop-up that states: KBD EXE is not working. What is this and how do I fix this problem? Thanks, Pat

Assuming that once it starts everything is OK and the computer functions normally, try this:
Right above the start ball, there is a command line. In that white space, type MSCONFIG.
When the window opens, click on the startup tab. Find the KBD.EXE command and uncheck the box next to it. This will tell it not to run.
Now restart the computer. In Vista you'll get a message that a program was blocked. Tell it to run the blocked program. When it opens (the system configuration utility), check the little box that says not to display it again. Now everything should work.

Windows XP

Is this for an XP installation that you already have running? If so, there is a free program called Belarc Advisor that will list your license keys for the programs you have installed. You can find the download here - Belarc Advisor.
