You must detach the bottom cover of the base of the microscope by taking off the 4 or 5 screws that keep it attached. That should reveal the wiring to the socket and bulb base.

The dimmer switch is not working it wont light up or dim at all put in a new light bulb

A good idea would be to check the wiring by taking it apart. if the wires are bad, you must get new ones and solder them to the light socket and the battery holder making sure not to cross the positive and negative wires.

Dear Madam/Sir, I have an Olympus BX50 microscope (which about 14 years old) and suddenly, from one week to the next, the LED light voltage scale only goes half way even when fully turned on to maximum...

It is most likely your dimmer control switch. It is a variable resistor that controls how much voltage is going to your bulb. You will want to contact a local microscope repair company that services Olympus microscope in order to either get it fixed, or to get the part.

I need a replacement bulb for my tasco 1200 zoom microscope kit. Where can I purchase one?

If you have a manual for the kit it may have a parts list. The bulb may have a part number on it , or the bulbs rating such as 2.5 Volts / 270 ma. Radio Shack should be able to help you. Just remove the bulb or take the unit with you to the store. The bulb is probably less than $2.

You should start by changing the bulb, even though it looks ok chances are that it's no longer working. Do the same with the fuse if the new bulb doesn't work.

Test that power is reaching the socket with a voltmeter or a multimeter so ensure the wiring is ok with the new fuse. If no power is reaching the bulb socket, then you will need to check the wiring every step of the way.
