Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition
All of a sudden I can't load www.walmart.com with either Firefox or IE 7. My wife can load it on her Windows XP computer hooked to the router. I can't find anything in browser settings, router settings, hosts file, etc. that would be preventing it from loading. Walmart.com is the only site I seem to be having problem a problem with. I'm running Vista Ultimate. Can you figure anything out that would prevent it from loading? Thanks for your help!

Damien41630 you were right on with your fix. I too had the same problem as grush1 and had tried all the things he tried and more and could not get www.walmart.com to load. After your fix everything works great. Thank you very much.

The answer is LINE 15 of your problem statement. Here is what goes on...(and this might be your problem but probably is not):
People that host websites or companies that have their one use servers. These servers allow (by hardware definition) x number of users to access them at any one point in time. Companies that limit this limit "instant" connectivity. That may be part of the problem.
The second part of the problem is handshaking.....essentially your computer has to say, hi, yes it's me send the data. If you are running an old machine (which you are not since your are using vista) this could be a problem.
Additionally, if you are on dialup (slow by definition) the handshake may not have enough time to conclude.
Also.....servers have busy times...2 A.M. is not busy...and intelligent hardware people will design their capacity to cope with that.
Questions you might want to ask are.....does your wife have a faster machine? Can I connect at 2 A.M.? Can she connect at the same time I do?
Also....Ebay, pricewatch.com, and a host of other places provide less expensive items than Wally World which personally irritates me....why? Well I have watch 2 grocery stores go out of business in a town of 34,000 and curiously Walmart prices have gone up. Even more interesting is how a town of 6000 roughly 30 miles away has two locally owned grocery stores with prices 10% cheaper minimum. If you shop at Wally World make them competive....try the internet first...even with freight it's more often than not cost effective. Also Costco (if you have one) is less.
Tango....hope this helps.
