Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

4 Answers will not load

All of a sudden I can't load with either Firefox or IE 7. My wife can load it on her Windows XP computer hooked to the router. I can't find anything in browser settings, router settings, hosts file, etc. that would be preventing it from loading. is the only site I seem to be having problem a problem with. I'm running Vista Ultimate. Can you figure anything out that would prevent it from loading? Thanks for your help!

Tangoblue, thanks a lot for trying to help with this problem! This problem happens any time of day or night.

I have a fairly recent machine. I connect to the net on a 5 mbs cable connection.

My wife has an early Pentium 4 machine running XP (and can connect any time of the day or night, when I can't.

I also agree with much of what you say about Walmart, and realize the problems they can cause a community. We live in a rural area and once bought a dvd player from their website. We do not have a Costco locally. It's just driving me crazy that I can't reach their site. Thanks again for trying to help. Let me know if you think of anything else.

More then likely its a compatibility issue with internet explorer 8. Do the following and it should solve the issue.

1. Open IE
2. Tools
3. Compatibity Settings
4. Add to the compatibility list

Damien41630 you were right on with your fix. I too had the same problem as grush1 and had tried all the things he tried and more and could not get to load. After your fix everything works great. Thank you very much.

The answer is LINE 15 of your problem statement. Here is what goes on...(and this might be your problem but probably is not):

People that host websites or companies that have their one use servers. These servers allow (by hardware definition) x number of users to access them at any one point in time. Companies that limit this limit "instant" connectivity. That may be part of the problem.

The second part of the problem is handshaking.....essentially your computer has to say, hi, yes it's me send the data. If you are running an old machine (which you are not since your are using vista) this could be a problem.

Additionally, if you are on dialup (slow by definition) the handshake may not have enough time to conclude.

Also.....servers have busy times...2 A.M. is not busy...and intelligent hardware people will design their capacity to cope with that.

Questions you might want to ask are.....does your wife have a faster machine? Can I connect at 2 A.M.? Can she connect at the same time I do?

Also....Ebay,, and a host of other places provide less expensive items than Wally World which personally irritates me....why? Well I have watch 2 grocery stores go out of business in a town of 34,000 and curiously Walmart prices have gone up. Even more interesting is how a town of 6000 roughly 30 miles away has two locally owned grocery stores with prices 10% cheaper minimum. If you shop at Wally World make them competive....try the internet first...even with freight it's more often than not cost effective. Also Costco (if you have one) is less.

Tango....hope this helps.

Hi Windows XP is outdated. Both internet explorer and Firefox browsers have stopped support for Windows XP. Latest Firefox version is 57.0.2 and it is not possible to install on Windows XP. Internet explorer also cannot be updated on Windows XP. Please check your motherboard's manufacturer's site to see what latest operating system, it will support. I guess old systems wont support Windows 10 but support only till Windows 7 or Windows 8. Please consider updating to latest operating system if you want to use for browsing.

Internet Explorer 7 shuts down with message mshtml. dll 7.0.6000.16827 I am running xp home

Try this link (if you can get IE to stay on long enough).

If you can't, I recommend that you download (or get a copy) of FireFox, install it and then go to the site for the IE patch.

Please read the information carefully as it is specific to only a certain level of Windows XP.

Hope this helps!

When you say download do you mean any file you try to download? Have you tried using another browser such as firefox? If you do not have firefox installed I assume you cannot download it to try. If this is the case I would suggest going to a friend or family members computer & downloading it to a thumbdrive or cd then take it home & install it. If you can download from firefox. Then I would uninstall IE V 7 from add remove programs & then re install it. I'm assuming you have tried the usual things like restarting your computer
