Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

LCD display blank and shutter release won't work

After turning camera on, there are only two displays on LCD. One is battery level indicator. The other is (.1  (.2  (.3  (.R. Rotating the command dial cycles through these.  Also, the shutter release won't take a picture. If I push in the lock button on left side of camera, I can then take a picture.  This problem does not happen all the time. Thanks for your help

Why is image not displaying on LCD monitor?

Need more info. Does the menu display? Then LCD probably good. If the menu does not display, then LCD (or its driver circuitry) is probably bad. Not display after taking a photo? Or not display when you push the arrow button to turn on display. Check to make sure card is in camera. Set menu to factory default to make sure some setting in the custom functions isn't turning off the LCD. Also check the brightness level.

N 70 blank display solution plz

Not a lot to go on.

If the display shows up when you hold the shutter release down halfway, then the internal battery has drained. This battery-different from the EN-EL3 that serves as the main battery-runs the clock and keeps your settings while the main battery is removed. You may be able to recharge it by putting a fully-charged main battery into the camera and leaving it alone for three days. (This is in your manual.) After three days have passed, turn the camera on. Both displays should work like normal, and it should prompt you to set the clock.

I can help you fix the BUSY Error or Error 99 of your Canon EOS Rebel XS .

Installation of this Canon EOS Rebel XS firmware version 1.06 update will solve these problems:
  1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the BUSY indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
  2. The message, "Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to<OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery", appears on the camera's LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out,the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.
See the firmware instructions and download the firmware upgrade by following these Fixya Tips :

  1. Follow this link to download a pdf version of the firmware installation instruction guide.

Rebel XS was working fine... yesterday, all of a sudden, the LCD screen went blank and it displays 'busy' when trying to take a picture. Recharging the battery and replacing the sd card didn't change...

Canon EOS Rebel problem

This is usually caused by a defective shutter release switch - it'll have to go into a repair shop - independent shops will charge about $110 USD - Canon charges about $180

Nikon Coolpix 5700 malfunction

It sounds like the Function (FUNC) button is stuck. Actually, that's what is supposed to happen if you press the FUNC and then turn the wheel... but it's not supposed to stay that way after the FUNC button is released. Try tapping the FUNC button to see if it releases.

LCD Display

I was cleaning my CCD and damaged the shutter. Same problem. Click to take a picture and the camera locks up and powers off. Turn the camera back on and the shutter releases and the camera resets and powers on. $281 service call later and Precision fixed it quickly. Replaced the shutter. They warranty their work for 6 months. Priced way too high, but nobody would touch it. As soon as I told other repair services how I messed it up, they turned me down. I had to much money invested in the camera to toss it in the closet.

Digital SLR "r06" (or other number) in LCD display

During shooting, or when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the number of images that can be stored in the memory buffer at current settings is shown on the exposure-count displays in the control panel and viewfinder. "r06" indicates that six images can fit in the camera's buffer, "r08" would indicate eight frames. Any other number could be displayed as well.
