sounds like a t-con board fail, as you have described a common fault, they can go in many ways, t-con board is fitted to the back of the screen behind the metal shield, you just need to replace this part, with the same part number that the board say it is. hdmi with ps3 this is normal it all depends on the cable and the setting on the ps3 as the tv matches the signal. some cheap hdmi cables or damaged cables have been know to take longer on loads of different models.

It sounds like your PS3 is putting out a resolution that your tv can't display when it is on the menu screen. The fix for this would be to press and hold the PS3 power button until you hear two beeps. This will default it to factory display settings and should set it to a resolution your TV can handle.

Take the PS3 signal out of the component cables source selector use it with a HDMI cable input put it on it on HDMI port should solved this problems.

Well, after seven months I hope you have gotten this issue resolved, if not it sounds like your tv isn't on the AUX channel. Try switching your input to AUX. It should fix the problem

Try holding down the on/off button for about 5 seconds or until it beeps. It should reset the display settings to the original setting.

If it's a setting on the PS3 then just hook it up to another T.V. set it back to default and hook it back up to your other T.V.

HAVE YOU TRYED THE SETTINGS ON YOUR TV?? SWITCHING IT FROM SCART TO HDMI AND THEN USE THE SOURCE BUTTON ON YOUR TV TO FIND THE DISPLAY FROM YOUR PS3...HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU...........
