HotSync my Palm Zire

This is the message that I got when I attempted to HotSync my Palm Zire (Palm OS software v.4.1) to back it up onto my MacBook Pro (Mac OS 10.4.11):

The application "HotSync Manager" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<HotSync Manager><HotSync Manager><HotSyncLib.PPC><>"

I have received updates and attempted to reset the Palm handheld. I have owned my Palm Zire since December 2001 and backed it up regularly, but have not been able to hotsync my Palm Zire since June 2007. Please help.
