Question about Minox MD 62 ED W 62213

Cannot attach tripod plate to scope - stripped receptacle

I have had a Minox scope for about 1 year, and recently noticed that I am having difficulty keeping the tripod plate attached to the scope. Just fiigured out that the receptacle screwhole in the scope body is stripped for the first 2 threads. The threads deeper inside seem to be fine, but the screw is not long enough to grasp these. Does anyone know if longer screws are available to attach the tripod plates, or is this something I need to have Minox fix? Thanks!

Can you either take a picture of the offending part and post it..., or check out the following link to the parts diagram of your head and then indicate the part that is causing the problem? I am just not sure what you are asking.

I need to purchase screw that attaches scope to window mount on a 78-4405

The mount has a 1/4-20 screw that fits most camera equipment. If you have the scope (spotting scope) it should have that hole in the bottom of the mounting ring. If the screw is missing from the window mount then most 1/4-20 tripod screws will work or you may substitute a cap screw and flat washer, to work with an Allen wrench for tightening.

How to put a camera on it

If it's a quick release tripod you need to remove the quick release plate (Usually a release lever to the side of the top of the tripod) and then fasten the plate securely to the camera and then the plate to the tripod. Older non-quick-release tripods have a knurled screw located below the flat area where the camera is attached. If the screw is missing, get a relacement from your local hardware store - 1/4" -20. (Find a way to keep the new one from getting lost.)

You can still order the plate that attaches the camera/scope to the head from Eagle Optics directly at this link:

I have a WO IBIS 80 APO Spotting Scope. How do use it with other 1 1/4" eyepieces? The packaged zoom eyepiece seems to have a threaded attachment to the scope.

sounds like it was designed to use only the eyepiece that came with it. here is an idea...mount the scope on a tripod with no eyepiece in it...now take an 1 1/4" eyepice and place against the scope where you would put the eyepiece ..try to focus..if you cant, then slowly bring the eyepiece away from the scope till you see a sharp image..im sure a machine shop can make a sleeve to screw into your scope and hold 1 1/4" at that point.any questions i can answer call me larry@reichinstruments.com 5088331232
