I have the same problem. It started after 6 months of no problems at all. Now it is useless as it will freeze up for no reason. I wiped the memory using master clear and master reset, to no effect. I think what happens is the memory goes bad. Anyway it is a hardware problem, and because there is no US warranty it is a paper weight now :( unless someone knows how to fix it?

Have you tried to change to a new theme? If the system memory is full or near full this can freeze the phone, sometimes even not allowing it to start.
Some Java program if allowed to autostart can Freeze the phone. To see which programs are running go to All menu> small touch button on the left lower side with three line (menu) > Task Manager. This will show how many program are running, and also system memory status. If it is near 85 or so, you may need to close some program
In the same menu there is Memory status. This will show you what is taking up how much amount of memory. If the memory is more then 85 to 90 % full, you will need to delete some files. This can be done in file manager.
You can even try a master reset. (REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOU DATA FIRST)

It's me again, but with a different problem. I tried to install Winterboard via...

I recently learned that RECOVERY MODE and DFU MODE are totally different. For that reason, I actually wanted to edit the title of this tip, but unfortunately, I can't, so I'm gonna write it here instead.2dd2296.png
This instruction will guide you in putting your iPhone / iPod touch to RECOVERY MODE, NOT DFU mode because apparently, you'll know that your device is in DFU mode, only if your computer recognized that there is a USB device connected to it but you don't see anything in the screen of your device.2dd2296.pngPLEASE, TAKE NOTE OF THE CORRECTION. For instructions on how to put your device to DFU mode, CLICK HERE. For more detailed comparison, read from BigBoss' site.2dd2296.pngProcedure:
  1. While ON, plug your iDevice to your computer, it doesn't matter whether iTunes (on your computer) recognizes your device or not, just plug it in2dd2296.png
  2. Turn it OFF2dd2296.png
  3. Hold the POWER button (only button on the top-right corner of your iDevice)2dd2296.png
  4. After just a second (literally, 1 second), press and hold the HOME button (only button on the face of your iDevice) and keep holding both buttons for about 10 seconds.2dd2296.png
  5. Release ONLY the POWER button and keep holding the HOME button for another 15 to 30 seconds longer, or until you see this image:2dd2296.pngb82dbe8.png
This means your device is already in RECOVERY MODE and iTunes will recognize. This also means that you can restore your iPhone and make it operational again. But be warned though that restoring will wipe out all data in your iDevice, as if it's fresh from the box.2dd2296.png
But, if your iDevice is DISABLED, you must put it to DFU mode first before you can restore it. For instructions on how to do that, CLICK HERE.

The PDA turn off and it will turn back on immediately later ......

I get much the same, but it comes and goes. For a week or two it will behave itself, then goes pop for a month or three! Do you find if you have external power (cradle or USB) that it will switch off? I also find that if I switch it off from battery power, it will switch itself back on, but then the power switch is ineffective for 6 or 7 seconds. Then you can switch it off, only to repeat the whole excercise again (and again, and again, and again...)
