Question about Printers & Copiers

My printer is online and our network is working, but nobody can print to the central printer.

I have exhausted the troubleshooter in windows and we need this printer working.

    OK. Well, this is a central hub printer/fax so it is on its own outlet in the center of the office. Everyone links to it via the network. So we will all need to re-instal the driver for this printer to use it?

    No. All of us have laptops that we take home with us. Each one of us is independant so that we can come in on weekends or whatever and still use everything. Every computer had the driver installed on it.

All I had to do was change from my Canon 4500 to AUTO-4500 printer in the drop down box.

Can you see the printer in your settings panel? Try a test print. If not, it's driver corruption 101. You may need to remove the printer(in Add printer mode) then reinstall it.

    absolutely. Printer drivers are quite susceptible to power glitches, as a usual thing. One issue on that. Don't place the power for the printer in same power strip of UPS as the computer, as the spikes from typical printing can cause ground spikes to upset modems and USB devices.

    actually, if the print server is accessible to all your users, then you'll just need to run the print driver from your server, since the printer is most likely set up that way, right?

Printer is offline. how do I get it online?


Once you have added either a USB or networked printer to your PC or Mac computer, you can begin sending documents to print. However, on occasion, a print command will create an error on the printer and take it offline, which will prevent all future jobs from printing. To resolve this issue, you will need to change your printer settings from offline to online.
    PC Instructions - Open the Start menu and click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer. - Double-click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. A pop-up window detailing all current print jobs will open. - Go to Printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online. Mac Instructions - Open System Preferences by clicking on the icon in the Dock. - Go to the Print & Fax control panel under the Hardware category. - Select the printer you want to take online from the list on the left side of the screen. Then click on the "Open Print Queue" button. - Click on the "Resume Printer" button at the top of the queue window to change the printer from offline to online.

Why does my Brother printer goes into Sleep mode and I can't print??


I have copied in the illustrated instructions for resolving printer status is Offline or Paused. (For Windows®) but if distorted please view here.

Description:
To solve the problem, please see the following:

  • If the printer status is Offline:

    Check that the printer is online using the following steps:

    VERIFY THE BROTHER MACHINE IS POWERD ON AND THERE ARE NO ERRORS

    1. If the LCD screen is blank, then the Brother machine is not powerd on the machine to see if it wakes from sleep mode. If it does not, then verify that it is plugged into a working outlet and any power switches are turned to the ON position.
    2. Check the LCD screen for any error messages. An example would be "Paper Jam" or Ink/Toner Empty". If the LCD screen shows an error troubleshoot to clear the isssue indicated.

    CHECK THE PRINTER STATUS

    NOTE : These steps or screens may differ depending on the operating system.
    1. For Windows® XP Users:
      Click Start => Printers and Faxes


      For Windows Vista® Users:
      Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Printers


      For Windows® 7 Users:
      Click Start => Devices and Printers



    2. For Windows® XP and Windows Vista® Users:
      Right click on the icon for your Brother machine and choose Use Printer Online.

      For Windows® 7 Users:
      Double click on the icon for your Brother machine => See what's printing => Printer => Use Printer Offline (Take the checkmark off.)

Note If the problem still continues, do one of the following:
  • If you find the Related FAQ's at the end of the page, click it and check another solution.

  • If you don't find the Related FAQ's, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us".






  • If the printer status is Paused:

    Right click on the icon for your Brother machine and choose Resume Printing. (If the menu reads Pause Printing, there is no problem in the printer status.)


    For Windows® 7 Users:
    Double click on the icon for your Brother machine => See what's printing => Printer => Pause Printing (Take the checkmark off.)

    Double click on the icon for your Brother machine and choose Printer => Cancel All Documents.



    For Windows® 7 Users:
    Double click on the icon for your Brother machine => See what's printing => Printer => Cancel All Documents

I have a HPC6280 Printer and cannot get it to print from my wireless printer with Windows 7. It keeps saying offline.

My HP 1120cxi was workinh fine until i reinstalled windows XP pro. now it doesnt print. tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer and driver, but it just prints 1 line of gibberish

NOTE The Network Configuration page is only available on the HP LaserJet p2015n,
HP LaserJet p215tn, and HP LaserJet p215nw printers.
A Network Configuration page prints whenever a printer configuration page is printed. You
can also print a Network Configuration page by pressing the network Reset button at the
back of the printer
The Network Configuration page provides information about the network configuration,
including the IP address, firmware revision, network statistics, protocol information, and so
on. The Network Configuration page automatically prints when you print a configuration
page from the control panel.

Using the HP Toolbox
The HP Toolbox is a Web-based program that you can use for the following tasks:
● Check the printer status.
● Configure the printer settings.
● View troubleshooting information.
● View online documentation.
You can view the HP Toolbox when the printer is directly connected to your computer or
when you are using a supported network connection. You must have performed a complete
software installation to use the HP Toolbox.
NOTE You do not have to have Internet access to open and use the HP Toolbox. However, if you
click a link in the Other Links area, you must have Internet access in order to go to the site
associated with the link. See Other links for more information.
To install the HP Toolbox, you must install the TCP/IP protocol and the most recent version
of the Java™ Virtual Machine on the computer. You must also install the DOT4 protocol for
