I can't get my computer (windows XP sp2) to recognize that there's a scanner. The computer will print using the e-Studio, but I can't get the scanner set up. When I use the network scanner tool setup, it can't auto detect a copier. I tried to add one manually, but I don't know the IP address or host name.

L1 or L1-00 indicates Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are 2 possibilities. 1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position. 2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated. Just power off then on the copier to reset.
Connect to copier/scanner using web browser. Click Administration tab, and logon use the copier's username/password.Click NetworkClick SMB SessionClick SMB Session boxIn
section called "SMB Signing of SMB Server", the default of "If client
agrees, digital signature is done for communication" needs to be
changed to "Digital signature isn't done for communication for the
server"Click Set button at top, then Save button, and the copier will reset.
Please dont try with setup wizard , please connect the usb cable between computer and printer then turn on the copier at that time new hardware found will appear, then you have to select YES THIS TIME ONLY. you have to select the driver location
Windows is using Window's default scan driver, so it's working only within Windows scan wizard feature. You will need to install the Scan Driver separately to work with SmarThru and other software. The Scan Driver is available at Samsung website.
Go to this link. Select Windows XP in the Select OS box. You will see Canon's printer driver for the BJC-2100, and under 'Software' you will see ISScan_v350.exe which is actually the driver for the IS-22, compatible with Windows XP.
Install and download both files on your computer. I know that Windows XP has a driver already for the BJC-2100, but it may not work properly with the IS Scan driver.
