You will need to remove the motor & then remove the pump from the motor assembly to install the new belt. here is the break down. Make sure to take a good look at how that belt is around the pump. take the hole motor, braket and pump off the machine at one time. the motor does not need to be taken off the metal braket. Good luck :)

A squealing noise during the sensing cycle of your Maytag top-load washer can be caused by a number of factors. Here are some common reasons and steps you can take to resolve the issue:
Loose belt - The noise could be caused by a loose or worn belt that needs to be tightened or replaced. You may need to remove the front panel of the washer to access the belt.
Idler pulley - If the idler pulley that keeps tension on the belt is worn or damaged, it can cause a squealing noise. Replace the idler pulley if necessary.
Bearing - A worn bearing in the tub can cause a squealing noise. Replacing the bearing will typically require disassembling the washer.
Drive motor - If the drive motor is worn or damaged, it can cause a squealing noise. Replace the drive motor if necessary.
If you're not comfortable diagnosing and repairing the issue yourself, it's best to contact a qualified appliance repair technician for assistance.
Move the motor or pulley out of the way a bit and remove the old belt and replace with new, unstretched belt, tighten the motor or pulley and that is it.
NEED TO KNOW NAME BRAIND IF WHILPOOL HOW OLD IF MAYTAG REPLACE BELT SAME WITH GE WITH WHILPOOL NEED MOR INFO TO HELP LIKE IS IT SPINING AT ALL OR SLOW IF SLOW MAY BE YOUR CLUTCH OR DRIVE BLOCK IF NOT AT ALL WILL IT AGITAT IF NOT DRIVE COUPLER IN BETREEN PUMP AND MOTOR
I have a nice pictoral on replacing the thrust bearing on these maytag toploading washers you might want to take a look at. The thing washers in one direction and spins in opposite direction as you may well know. The pump is prone to lock up on these machines so I would remove the belt and turn that pump to see if it might be getting hard to turn. If it is hard for you to turn then it is hard for that motor to turn it also. I have a page here that gives a link to the repairs I am speaking of with photos: HERE
usually when the belt burns on a maytag it's a sign that a pump, motor or trans needs replacing. tilt machine back, remove belt from underneath & ck for restrictions in all 3 pulleys. If there's a burnt belt...replacing just the belt is a waste of money
Pull washer out a couple of feet and tilt it back, lifting the front. Rest against the wall. The belts are on the bottom. Remove the drain pump belt, and you'll get to the drive belt. The motor is installed on a plate and held by a spring. To install the belts easier, push motor towards the transmission pulley when installing new belts. Part numbers: 211124 for the pump belt, and 211125 for the drive belt. Set of both belts: 12112425. The set of both belts includes an instruction sheet also. Coupon "New10" takes 10% off. Good luck
