Question about Haier HTE18WAA Top Freezer Refrigerator
You were extremely helpful a week or two ago with diagnosing a haier fridge problem for me. I thoroughly defrosted and cleaned the unit before starting it up again. Unfortunately, the same problem has quickly reoccurred. I noticed the fridge warming again, saw that the freezer fan had stoped again, and pulled the freezer back off again. I was again able to start the fan by hand and it is moving at the moment. I also noted a great deal of frost build up on the rear coils and other components, much more so after just a week or two now than when I pulled the unit apart a couple weeks ago after four years of operation (the unit is currently set at its maximum temperature because the fridge has been warming again). I am trying to figure out whether I may have done something wrong in my servicing or whether there is still one or more problems elsewhere.
Of specific note this time around, I can say that with respect to the two "exhaust" vents in the top of the refrigerator, on one side my unit was equipped with a styrofoam insert with a 90 degree bend that directed the regrigerator exhaust directly over the drain pan in the rear of the freezer. On the other side there was no such insert. With much more frost this time around, it was easy to see that on the "insert" side, the frost was mostly limited to a section right where the insert exhausted. On the side with no insert, the frost was much more evident and thicker all the way up the coils and components on that side of the unit, and also accumlated some under the freezer floor, since that is where the exhaust hole ends without an insert similar to the other side.
Based on what I saw this morning, is it safe to assume that the unit is supposed to have one of these stytrofoam inserts on both sides when mine came with only one, and that this could potentially be contributing to or even causing the problem I have been having with the freezer fan frosting and stopping? If only one insert is standard and okay, is there anything else you can figure or suggest from the information I have given? Thank you again so much for your help and time.
It is not soposed to have two inserts one is the inlet air (controlled ) the other returns air to freezer . when fan has stopped check it for voltage if it has voltage replace the evaporator motor (fan).
