Unable to set margins

The ML-500 will not allow me to clear and set margins. We are limited to the last 1/4 of the line, so we are unable to type full forms. I am new to this office and can not find the original book that came with the machine.

Thanks for trying. It did not work, however. I believe the typewriter is finished. Now I must shop and present a recommendation for a new typewriter...

WizTo set the Left margin:
1) Move the carrier ro the place you want to set the left margin by using [SPACE BAR] or [BACKSPACE]. If you need to move outside the current left margin, press [ALT]+[M REL (3)]
2) Press [ALT]+[L MAR(4)]. The left margin is now set.
To set the Right margin:
1) Move the carrier ro the place you want to set the right margin by using [SPACE BAR] or [BACKSPACE]. If you need to move outside the current right margin, press [ALT]+[M REL (3)]
2) Press [ALT]+[R MAR(5)]. The right margin is now set.

GuruYou have to release the margins before you can set them.
