Get a new cable if everything else works that is your problem
Usually, unplugging, replugging it and then rebooting solves the problem.

your other options are a driver issue..either with the ipod drivers, itunes, or the USB drivers for your computer itself. since your ipod video and psp work fine, you can rule out USB drivers, but that doesn't rule out additional driver problems.

the other option is there's some kind of failure with your ipod..and sometimes if a device starts drawing power before doing any kind of communication with the computer (like when my rockbox-hacked ipod goes into charge only mode) then windows will assume there's a hardwire issue. the best way to determine if it's an issue with your ipods are take them to another computer and see if they work. if they work fine...try uninstalling and reinstalling itunes (back up your music and database) and see if that solves the problem. if none of that solves it and you know the ipod shuffles are good..then your system has suffered from the mysterious driver failure that's plagued a lot of systems. and generally the only real solution is to reinstall windows from scratch.

good luck

Step 1: To Delete the songs you don't like from iTunes library: Launch iTunes > Click Music mark > Select My Music > List your music as Songs > Select the songs you don't like > Click Delete to remove them. Step 2: Connect your iPod to computer > Sync the music from your computer to iPod with iTunes

Ipod touch wound sync to my computer. i had a nano first. when i tryed to sync my ipod touch i did not reg. to my computer, i just tryed to copy my music to the new ipod. my daughter shares our music from...

Open iTunes (without iPod connected). Create a new playlist and copy songs you want on your iPod into that list. Next connect your iPod. Once iTunes recognizes your iPod then go to the music tab and click on 'sync playlist only' and chose the new playlist that you created. Click sync. Only the songs in your new playlist should be copied to your iPod.

Hi. i have an ipod mini which is synced to my windows xp system but i'd like to download the music to my mac laptop - OS10. can someone please let me know how to do this ? thanks

Hi,

Syncing the music to the mac OS10 is much easy please follow the steps below:

Syncing music and podcasts automatically Connect iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
Select iPod in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window

In the main iTunes browser window, select the Music tab.
Select the option to Sync Music.

You have the option to sync all songs and playlists or selected playlists. Your iPod will need to have enough free space to sync the content that you have selected from your library. Tip: You can use the capacity bar at the bottom of the iPod settings window to determine how much free space is available. The size of a playlist can be determined by selecting it and looking at the bottom of the iTunes window.

Podcasts can also be automatically synced to iPod. Select the Podcasts tab and choose to sync all podcasts or selected ones. You can also determine which episodes are synced based on if they are recent, new, or unplayed

Click Apply and iTunes will begin syncing the audio content you've selected to your iPod. The iTunes LCD will display the sync progress and notify you when the iPod sync is complete

  1. To disconnect your iPod, select it under Devices and click the eject icon next to it.
Syncing music manually If you prefer not to automatically sync music content to your iPod, you can set up manual syncing.

Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
Select iPod in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window

75b22af.jpg
In the main iTunes browser window, select the Summary tab.
Select the option to "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music." This will deselect the automatic sync settings for the Music, Movies, and TV Shows tabs. Automatic syncing for Podcasts, Photos, Contacts, and Games can be individually disabled by selecting those options in each of those tabs. Note: When manually managing iPod, disk use is enabled and iPod must always be manually ejected in iTunes before disconnecting it from your computer
Click Apply.

To manually add music, audiobooks, movies or TV shows to your iPod, choose one of these categories under Library on the top-left of the iTunes window.

Select and drag items you want (to choose multiple items, Command-click items on a Mac or Control-click items in Windows), then drag them onto your iPod icon under Devices.

To add a playlist, select it from the left side of the iTunes window and drag it onto your iPod in the same way.

Music on apple 80 gig ipod

I honestly don't think you can. If the music isn't on your hard drive that is on your iPod then you WILL lose it if you sync it with the musicless iTunes. To my knowledge you have to re-download what's on your iPod (playlists and all) and if you add or subtract anything and sync that's what you'll have on your iPod.
