This piece of **** shows up with the same issues you mention.

    Does anybody has an idea?

Foolishly took upgrade to EmoDio: it stalled when transferring some files to the player, which now cycles between 'USB connected' and 'USB not connected'. The file system seems to have been corrupted because although the music files can be accessed through file browser, it does not sort by album or artist etc, just says 'no file'.
I can't reinstall the firmware because the PC won't recognise the player. Looks like emodio has wrecked my player, any solutions out there?

NEED HELP

Take out the USB from the MP3 Player. Connect it to your Computer. Go to "My Computer" and go to where it says "Portable Devices". Under where it says, "Samsung YP-U3". Double Click and Double Click "Samsung Flash Media". Double Click "Music". And put MP3 Songs, to the folder. Now it's ready to listen to it.

Thank You for Using FixYa!

Good Luck with your MP3 Player!

MP3 can't work normally

With the YP-u3 connected to the USB port and internet connected, start Samsung Media Studio software, you should get notification of a firmware update to download which fixed the recognition problem for me

Samsung YP-U3 MP3 Player Problem connection

Found the solution on another site (http://www.everythingusb.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=11238). To quote user AFHavemann :

"* Plug in the player so the USB bus can see it.

* Once it’s recognized (i.e., the device screen reads "Charging" and "USB Disconnected"), go to the Control Panel and click "System"

* Choose "Hardware" then "Device Manager" tab.

* Look for the name of your device under “Portable Devices” in the list

* If the name of your player is under “MTP Device” then the correct drivers are probably loaded

* Right-click on the name of your device and click "Properties"

* Click “Update Driver”"

Then follow the prompts from there. The computer searches for the driver software, etc., and reinstalls/resets information related to the device, which fixed things such that the computer will now recognize the device. I'm not sure what causes the problem, but this solution seems to reset whatever's gone wrong.

Hi Guys,

Downloaded Microsoft Media Player version 11 and installed.
I recall somebody mentioning this somewhere. Now when I go to device manager and select update driver the YP-U3 device driver is found automatically.
Also downloaded other software from Samsung website.
