All cartridges are in place and relatively new howerever all pages come through with an odd gold/brown staining at the top of each page. It looks somewhat like the paper had gotten too hot and been scorched. What could be causing this?

To replace the cartridge on the Minolta Magicolor 2300DL open the side panel and remove the cartridge. If the cartridge to be replaced is not visible then look for a small hole on the upper left side of the cartridges. While pushing a small screwdriver into the hole and pushing it in turn the cartridges with you fingers until the cartridge to be replaced is visible and then remove it and replace it with the new one. Once you have the cartridge installed close the side panel. The printer will start to reconfigure the new cartridge. Once its done the green light will come on and your ready to resume printing. Unfortunalely printers and there drivers estimate toner life buy counting the amount of dots draws on the pages. Say a cartridge is rated for 3000000 dots when new, the printer will know after printing 1500000 dots that the cartridge is about half full. If you replace a cartridge the printer will assume it's new as the ID tag will be different from the last cartridge. There really isn't any way of modifying or specifying the age of a cartridge. You will just have to keep using it until you start seeing drop outs on the page, then you will know it is almost empty. Shaking it a few times will usualy help stretch the life of a cartridge.
The instructions for this are posted on inside, back-left of the front panel when open. As indicated, push the green button in the lower-left corner with an embossed "1" next to it. Then, turn the green knob next to it with an embossed "2" next to it until the next cartridge is fully visible and the button from step 1 pops back out. Repeat step 2 until the correct cartridge is in place. Then pull the green handle above and to the left of the cartridge.
Probably low toner if fading is on black only or a single color. To check levels, MENU (right arrow to Consumable Usage) MENU (right arrow to see each toner cartridge level) Readout may not be accurate, especially if you have changed or removed a toner cartridge.
