I use ASUS M2N-MX motherboard, with HD audio and WindowsXP OS.

    I use normal Sterio speakers.

Sound volume is High with MP3, AVI, Video discs etc.

But sound volume is too low for watcing DVDs (original 5.1 format discs) and I don't know how to bring it up.

I tried upgading multiple realeases of sound drives from ASUS but in vain.

I could rise the volume(while watching DVDs) by tweaking Equalizer or Sound driver(SoundMax). Problem in have to reset to default after watching it.

I heard the blame is the HD audio which cannot amplify as normal Stereo oupput.

Pls some one help me to get normal amplified volume from the PC without changing any settings.

(bad english warn)
so... i just found out that i had turned almost to 0 the volume on Nero ShowTime... and it just gets the windows volume down not just for that program bt everything... even winamp got itself on maximum volume and i couldnt hear almost nothing in all my sound system with the volume at max.
so heres the solution...
OPEN YOUR DVD PLAYER (nero ST or whatever it is) AND TURN VOLUME TO MAX. AND ONLY DECREASE IT ON WINDOS (SPEAKER ICON)
Problem Solved
fell good to help!!!

The sound output is very low even using earphones can the audio output be upgraded to give a normal listening level.

Probably not without using separate amplified speakers. Check the mixer levels are set correctly.

Sound quality is so poor. cant listen music. volume is too low even with full sound

Normally the sound on the Vostro is lower than the Inspiron series as this is an executive office laptop.
All what can be done is you can download WINAMP and use to increase the equaliser /volume still further.
Also an active power speaker can be connected to the earphone socket to improve the volume to your desired level.

Aspire 5515 dvd wont play sound

Does the laptop play CDs?
If so then when you start a DVD and before you play the movie, go into the audio setting and configure the speakers for laptop stereo speakers.
If you cannot hear music from the CD then check :-
1. The audio settings, volume not set to minimum and mute is not ticked (enabled)
2. Device manager - sound device is enabled and working, if not re-install the sound driver.

Volume at 100% and sound too low to watch dvd tried with several dvds and volume is too low

Hi,

Just cross check the volume settings in volume controls. All the sliders should be at max level specially Volume Control and CD Player.

If it is fine then there is some thing wrong with the media you are trying to watch or can be problem with audio driver.

Lenovo DVD writer Creates sound

What kind of noise you hear?

Rising spinning noise is normal. When palying movie or music it gets to some level and continue with the same noise.

If it was not case before, then check the CD holder of your device for some dirt that might make your CDs not to be inserted proper.

Regards.

No volume or sound for my Laptop

Please check to see if your sound card is installed/enabled, then check to see if the sound files are set to open with that device. Your computer should already have a media player installed (if you're using Windows). Set your music files to open with the media player.

Crackling Audio

Is there any other programs running in the background IE Anti-Virus programs, or anything that could be using quite alot of Memory other the stuff your watching?
It could be either down to Lack of Memory being allocated to the Audio & Video (Probably the case if the machine has built in Shared Sound & Video Card). Try opening Task Manager and setting the Application that you use to play Music/Movies to High Priority.
If it's not that try lowering the Master Volume on the Mixer Device by going into the Volume Properties in the Task Tray (By the Clock).
