Either the motherboard is "dead" or the power-supply is "dead".
It's easiest to FIRST try a different power-supply.

Remove Any Docking Stations or Port Replicators From the Computer Note: Docking stations and port replicators are optional equipment. If you are unsure if you have a docking solution attached to your computer, refer to Table 1 and Table 2 for examples. To remove the docking station or port replicator, perform the following steps: Shut down the computer. Remove the docking station: Universal Docking Stations: Disconnect the docking station's USB cable from the computer. D/Port or D/Dock: Remove any cable locks from the security slot on the right side of the docking station. Move the slide lock forward to the unlocked position. Press the Eject button and lift the computer from the docking station. C/Port II or C/Dock II: Remove any cable locks from the security slot on the left side of the docking station. Pull the locking lever forward until it stops to eject the computer, then slide the computer out of the docking station. Confirm there are no power strips, surge protectors, or uninterruptible power supplies (UPS devices) connected to the power cable. UPS devices provide temporary power for a computer when there is no electricity available from the wall socket, such as during a power outage. Plug the power cable into the known-good wall outlet. The problem is either that your battery is bad, or your charger is bad. That said, use the eraser at the end of a pencil to clean the battery contacts, and the contacts inside the computer where the battery goes. Then see if it will charge, otherwise get the battery tested at any staples or other computer store.

You have deleted files held in your recycle bin and the options that are set on your recycle bin suggest that it should permanently remove files at some specific system event. If you don't like that, then right click on the recycle bin and make the appropriate changes to your options.

I have a compaq persario v2000 that will not turn on.

1. The power-connector has broken-away from the motherboard. So, no power reaches the motherboard.
2. Dead motherboard.
3. Dead CPU

Good luck.

Power will not turn on??

Try this:
1. unplugging the power cable
2. removing the battery
3. plug in power cable
4. switch on and start up

If this works, shut down, unplug and replace the battery.

Hopefully your problem is resolved.
