Several keyboard keys on my Presario CQ60 do not work... i.e. backspace, delete and any directional arrow keys. Can I reinstall a drive and fix it? Mike

Replace the keyboard with a new one. Laptop keyboards are not that expensive.

Make sure that the replacement is compatible with your computer. To know more about it, please visit the website of your computer's manufacturer.

You can also try a USB keyboard to check if the non-working keys work with the other keyboard.

Hello, seems like a problem with the touchpad, first disable and enable the touchpad with the button which is located at the top of the touchpad, the corresponding LED should change from blue to orange and vice versa. If this doesn't solve the issue, reinstall the driver for the touchpad, you can find this by searching for 'recovery manager' in the start bar. Next step is to select 'advance options' and choose reïnstall hardware driver, there should be an option called 'Synaptics touchpad driver' select and install. kr Gijs

Your keyboard is actually one big circuit board and the keys touch small pads under them and over time these can fail or the sensor feeding the panel under the keys can fail. Open up a word program and test each and every key on the board. If the back key is the only one then it is most likely just a failure of that key and for the time being you can use the left arrow to back up...but you will need to replace the keyboard. I believe these are non serviceable pieces and should be replaced as a whole. I'll include a link below for the service manual for that model Compaq. The 1st reason may be:
-You may need to update the driver software of the keyboard. Try entering the following URL:

Then select your product, then look for a keyboard driver. Download it and install it.

And the 2nd one reason, may be:
-The keyboard keys may be broken, and doesn't work.

If the first step doesn't work, try buying an external mini keyboard, that can be found in any PC Service shop, and it also have a low-cost.

open the laptop and bring out the keyboard .
whash it with Alkohol and after 20 minuts dry it
and after 3 hours install it and test.
if dosent solved i have it .i can send u

you might have sticky keys permanetly stuck on, ive had this problem, it worked after i held down shift and press the backspace key, then it worked nomally again. hope this helps.
