I had the same issue twice (2 diffrent devices) on LG Blue-ray HX-906 - stuck on "please wait" after switching it on. It turned out to be defective mainboard - main BGA chip (the one with black radiator) has some problem with connection to mainboard. Here is how to repair it:
- dismount the mainboard
- take off the radiator from the main chip
- put alluminium foil around the chip to avoid unnecessary heating up of other parts of PCB
- heat up the chip using air hotgun to about 200 celsius for about 5 minutes.
read your owner manual for to select the problem in section troubleshooting and fix it. If you do not have the manual download for free. www.fitness.manualsonline,com
I had the same problem. After googling I found that the HDD might be faulty so I unplugged the device, brought it upstairs to unscrew it (to change the HDD for an empty new one). One last check before I really unscrewed the cover - and the recorder started again! After 5 minutes the 'please wait' returned. So, did the same thing again, tried a few times, and the recorder started. Then, I imediately reformatted the HDD, and the problem is now gone.
Hi Try the following: 1. Press on your unit up down and reset together. Your unit will start and read the BIOS from the HD. 2. Do not change anything - no up/down! 3. Press OK to write it back 4. Press Menu to get out.
I assume that your BIOS got broken by the circuit breaker. Good luck nekrub2
I have RH188 and I couldn't play DivX movies with it when the codec of it is Real Media codec (RMVB extension). Is there any way to update software or firmware of RH188 to solve the problem?
Hi, I had the same and brought it back and they replaced the DVD unit. After another 6 moths I had the same and they had to replace it again. I think LG DVD units are lousy.
This is what LG customer service will instruct you to do. I have a LG LDA-511:
1. Unplug your unit.
2. After unplugging, wait a few seconds then press and hold the power button (yes, while the unit is unplugged). This resets the unit.
3. Plug in your unit.
4. Press the eject button.
If the disc does not come out, then you need service from an authorized service representative.
