Finally, I think I have fixed this rotten piece of junk. I will never get an LG anything again. I have had the same problem of start up music or chime, but no lights, and i tried unplugging it for a few minutes, to several hours or even days and holdingin the power button in as you plyg it back in, or just holding in the power button in after it is plugged back in and a few times it has started back up, but always after a couple of hours playing with the darned thing. I live in Tucson in a new house with great electrical set up, but when it is 110 outside, the ariconditioner is running full blast and it dims the lights a tiny bit upon startup, then evens out just fine- it is just the initial start up that you notice anything at all with the ariconditioner running. I am a computer tech and got to thinking that the symptoms the washer was having were the same as it there was a power failure, except there was no error message. That got me to thinking that whatever sensor it has for electrical must only be partially tripped- it was not a bad enough of a dip in power to shut the whole thing down- it still startup chimed, but it was just enought hat it would not let the circuit baord start it up, even using all of the resetting information because it wasn't fully tripped off.
Long story short- plug it into a computer battery back up box that has power conditioning like an APC 550 and it lights right up and works fine. It is a picky piece of junk, but at least it works now and since it is just one month out of warranty, I am pretty happy about that.
