How to hook this monitor onto my computer

What software do I need to load, where can I get it, is there a user guide available and what input and output cords do I need. Message keeps coming up that video input 20 sub no signal?
During the first 30 minutes it appears that the screen times out and goes black even though I am typing on it?

You would have got a CD with this moniter..
we ahve install that cd..
and its better to check the cables first which would be the
VGA CORD that is blue in colour which connects your moniter with the tower.
We can check the connections with the moniter for the Tower and then install the cd.

Monitor message says "Theft Disable

The theft deterrence system can be disabled temporarily by unplugging the monitor's power cord. Then it will start the counter again. (The default is 60 minutes and is set in the EzTune software.) The software locks the monitor to one computer (the one running the EzTune software). To disable the theft deterrent message, enter EzTune and click on the Extras tab. Then select the Theft Deterrence section and enter the PIN. The PIN can be saved online and then you can request it if forgotten: https://pinreg.portrait.com/index.php?OEM=gwy&PRODUCT=dtune&ULANG=enu .

The EzTune software is available here: http://oem.portrait.com/dtune/gwy/enu/upgrade.html .

The user's guide and other documentation is available here: http://support.gateway.com/s/MONITOR/7005574R/7005574Rnv.shtml .

I hope this helps.

I hooked my new aoc 20' monitor up to our emachine and cant find my cd i got with the monitor to download. the monitor will go out on me few times during the day for no reason so am thinkin i need to...

You do not need the driver for the monitor if you are running XP, if you are running Windows 7 you will need the driver so you can adjust the resolution to the native resolution of the monitor.
Lack of driver for the monitor will not cause the black out problem.
You should try this monitor with another PC first to make sure it is not video card problem in the PC.
Is this monitor still under warranty.

I noticed that my monitor has an additional port to connect another monitor to but for some reason its not recognizing the monitor

Is that a port for an additional monitor or is it simply an alternative method of connecting the monitor to the PC. My monitor has a vga input along with a dvi input and a hdmi input. These are all inputs not outputs.. Unless the port is specifically labeled as an additional monitor output, the chances are its an input.. You may have to use proprietry software to make any additional outputs available.. if the monitor is a Samsung, go to the samsung website and search for the monitor model. or read the manual..

It says "input not supported" whenever i change the resolution higher than 1280 1080..i changed my vga card to my onboard one...cause at least here i can see everything clear with the resolution of 1280...

hi there,
looks like windows does not know how to handle the monitor.
You may try to disable the onboard graphic card in the BIOS before
hooking up the monitor to the nvidia card. then try to run windows in safe mode(by pressing F8 when booting up), it'll run windows with the lowest available resolution, which will be supported by the monitor.
Now download appropriate driver for monitor, install and reboot.

That should do the trick

good luck

I bought a used samsung 931b 19 inch monitor and it did not come with the cables to hook up to PC what cables do i need?

you need either a dvi-d or a dsub cord depending on whether your computer has analogue or digital outputs. if you look on the back of your computer, dsub is blue, dvi is white. this monitor has inputs for both. the cords are available at you local bestbuy, radio shack, or office depot.

Is there a microphone in this unit? if not how do i put one?

If you don't have the user guide for your unit, you can download one from the Compaq support website. If it does not have one, you can use the sound input jack on the back (sometimes in front too) of your system box to add a microphone. The jacks will be marked generally as 'MIC.' The 'LINE' jack if available on you system are for other, higher level sound sources, not for microphones which produce very small voltages.

I bought a new computer and it isn't recognizing my monitor (blank screen)

Most monitors use software that you load onto the new computer. Look for a disk or hook up the old PC to download it.

No picture on monitor when hooking up for the first time

There are control buttons on the side of the monitor. Are you sure you have pushed the button to power the monitor on?
If so, this is the troubleshooting step for No Image on that monitor:
No Screen Image
• Make sure monitor is turned on.
• Make sure the video cable is securely connected to both the monitor and PC or
Audio/Video apparatus.
• Make sure you have selected the correct video input source
• Adjust the brightness and contrast levels.
