My 1T external HDD won't format and reads as raw

I am assuming (because you did not tell me) that you are running a version of Windows. You need to open help and support and search under drive management. The drive is showing as raw because you have not yet created a basic volume or any partition structure.

Reformat partition hard drive

To return your HD to the factory settings do a full system recovery using the recovery disks (CD or DVDs) you made when you first had the computer. This will return the whole computer to its as-shipped state: you will lose all your data and any software that you have installed. This will retain/re-install the original partition structure on your hard disk. To do this process you may also use the recovery partition on the hard disk.

To completely reformat the hard disk, in which case you will lose everything on it
press the start button at the bottom left of screen,
R-click on computer, and select manage. The computer management window will open. From the left pane click on disk management under 'storage'. A new pane will open, with information on the different disks in your computer. Select the disk on which the partition to be formatted is located. R-click on the partition to be formatted, and choose format, and ten work through the format wizard. (see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-format-hard-disk-partition#create-format-hard-disk-partition=windows-7)
When you R-click on the partition other options will appear will appear as well as format, choose the appropriate option to create a new partition, merge, etc, By successively working your working your way through the partitions you may format/merge some while retaining others.

Pc recognizes the device in device manager list but not in my computer window

You could check Computer Management > Disk Management. It should show up. If it does not a have drive letter it is not recognizing the format structure and sees it as new. I would test on a different system before committing to any changes.

Western Digital External USB 3.0 1 TB Hard Drive: The disk is inaccessible. The file structure is corrupted and unreadable

There is companies that make data recovery, you could try them, there is also some for private use, but they are not that good. But those companies will pay a lot, if you have a good home insurance you could try them to pay recovery.

Depends how much you appreciate the information on hard disk.

Is not accessible , the disk structure is corrupted and unreadableWhat's your problem?

The hard disk could be faulty.
Try formatting the external hard drive again.
If this does not work then most likely the hard drive is faulty and needs to be replaced.
NOTE you will not be able to recover your data when you format the hard drive.

You will need to format the disk so the file structure can be read by your operating system. Formating the disk will wipe all data from the disk but will only need to be done once.

While Booting My Desk top Precision 360 of DELL.I have SeagateST373453LW SCSI Hard disk.At start up disk is recognised but capacity is not. If I am Verifying or Formatting my drive throug Ctrl/A for...

There are a couple of things here..

First I am going to assume this is the LSI card that came with the Dell.

1. Since it is a RAID card, the formatting you are seeing may be referring to the RAID structure. Does the configuration utility ask you what format to be make the drive (i.e FAT, FAT32, NTFS, etc.)? If not, it may be doing that type of format. Also, you did not mention a second drive so the controller may be getting confused. If you have a boot disk/cd rom for the operating system you wish to load, try booting the disk. In a lot of cases, the operating system will format the drive to a particular format.

2. Make sure your controller and drive are not on the same channel. A lot of cards auto assign this but since the Dell has a 2003 date, its worth checking.

3. I've seen drives detected before but not usable. It had to do with the SCSI cable and termination. If this is the SCSI card and hard drive that came with the computer, this may not be an issue (assuming it worked previously).

    Cannot access disk information

    Hello,

Yes we can save you :D

First off though, with the combination of a virus and a formatted drive I will only recommend that you send it to a pro. Too many things that could go wrong and any of the files that are currently recoverable could be destroyed trying some of the usual testing methods.

Comment back with your region and city and I will find an appropriate pro for you to contact.

My external hard drive is corrupt, i want my data back.

    Dear,
Data can be recover but the drive must be accessible by OS. As you write windows vista says drive is not accessible and that the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable.Do one thing try the same drive at another PC. If it run on that PC copy the data to that PC. Now format the drive and paste the same data back to your drive. But, if same thing happend then there are chances of fault in the driveand for this you shuld visit to the service cetre but, they are not responsible for the data.

    Thanks & regards,
