Question about Flat Panel Televisions

2 Answers

Polaroid 32 My husband purchased the above television from our local Wal-Mart approximately one year ago! My husband is presently on the National Donor Organ Registry for both a donor transplant kidney and liver since 08/2005. In April, 2007 he was diagnosed with a brain anerysm. In the meantime, his heart rate began dropping to about 30 beats per minute and he received a surgically implanted Pacemaker in Sept., 2007. In December, 2007, he had to have surgery to establish a "fistula" in his arm as doctors feel he will need to have dialysis started very soon. Last week his television just went blank and he says, it appears as though the television is not receiving a signal!! I am not sure just what he meant about this. He goes "septic" quite often from the toxins his blood can not eliminate through his kidney as they should be done!! He is presently in the hospital for this condition. To make matters worse for us I have been wheelchair bound myself since May, 2002. Thus, I am not able to go through and do things the proper way they should be done. I used to be a meticulous perfectionist about keeping all paper work, etc. on each, and every, major purchase we made. I call our local Wal-Mart this morning to see if they could help me with the exact purchase date and they can not. I wanted so very badly about seeing about getting this television fixed or replaced so he will have some thing to do upon returning home from the hospital again this time! We are on a very extremely tight budget as I am on disability at 53 and my husband just lost a very high managerial position with the local electric generating power station on January 01, 2005 due to "cutbacks" in budgeting!! Thus, we went from a fairly comfortable middle-class life to an extremely poor barely making it position in life do to our extensive health insurance premiums, large medical deductibles and extremely high prescription bills which all see to come out of our own pockets!! I REALLY need some help in looking in to what I can do to get this television set fix or replaced as soon as possible for my husband's hopeful coming back home again soon! Can you please help me? I can not thank you enough for your time and trouble into checking into this matter for me!! Mrs. Lynn Edward (Deborah C.) Hello Ms. Markham,

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles.
Offhand, to your post/description of "...blank and ...not receiving a signal..." could mean a couple of possibilities:
1. the TV's connection to your cable provider is loose, open or disconnected. It is also possible that it is your cable company's line going to your TV;
2. if you are using Satellite TV, it is possible that the dish has been misaligned, the receiver is not working or the subscription needs to be updated;
3. if the TV is connected to DVD or VCR, it is possible that those units are the one in question;
4. Should it be the TV itself, you need to post back more details like:
a. does it power on?
b. are there any blinking lights, if yes what's the sequence, the color?
c. if it does power on, can you see the channel number and/or the volume level indicator on the screen when you press the appropriate buttons on the remote?

In the meantime, you can try doing a full reset by removing the plug from the mains/outlet for a couple of hours. This is meant to hopefully reset the TV and is considered a "blind man's approach" not knowing any other information.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or for any additional information you can share pertinent to the TV's symptoms/problems.

Good luck and kind regards.

I have a 32 in lcd ilo tv that want come on.

Yes I have the solution, I watched my 32 inch ILO tv and turned it off went to bed and when I got up the next morning it would not come on. So I got out my receipt, called Wal-Mart they would not offer me any help I had purchased this T.V. in December of 2007, since this is January 09 it was just by days past the year mark and Wal-Mart also informed me that they no longer carry this brand due to this problem, I called the company but they more or less laughed and said that it sounds like your going to have to pay a repair bill or purchase a new T.V. So I am a single mother with no extra money,especially 1 month after christmas. There is a fuse on the T.V in plain view, when you slip off the back of the T.V.on the right side, it costed me a hole $2.50 to purchase at my local auto parts store, works like a new one. The fuse was burt black, so this was a cheap and simple solution. Also Beware this rep from ILO also told me that there company makes Manavox, and Zennith so if there making them beware!!!!!!!!!

Polaroid 26 lcd/dvd ... dvd won't work

Call your store manager directly for any information you need. Just ask for the store manager. If he or she cannot help then call 1-800-WALMART and ask that your concern be forwarded to the District Manager and you expect a call back. My store manager tells me they will stand for you with the warranty people.

if nobody will repair the tv, then your probably better off buy a new one. yours could have the bulbs blow, there could be something wrong with the board or the power supply. i don't recommend working on a tv because they are very easy to mess up and do even more damage. for your next tv, get a higher rated brand like samsung or sony. they tend to be more reliable and are easier to fix/find somebody to fix

32 in ilo tv

Call your store manager and if that doesn't get you action then call 1-800-WALMART and ask that the District Manager be advised and that you expect a call back. Wal-Mart should stand behind anything they sell including warranty. I purchased one for my new notebook and dealt with the store manager for information on the warranty before I bought it. The manager will respond.
