No heat in my microwave.

My 10 year old over-the-range Kitchenaid has always worked perfectly. But a minute into making my oatmeal this morning, the fan got much louder. Five minutes later, the bell rang, and my cereal was still stone cold.

There can be a couple of problems that cause the fan to get louder. 1 is that the Diode assy has failed that controls the power circuit of your magnetron (RF) The 2nd is the magnetorn itself may have failed. (If this part has failed it is cheaper to just replace the unit in most cases) These are the 2 most common failures. In a 10 year old unit replacing the diode is a minor expense and worth the repair cost. The diode can be resistance checked with the power off and one terminal disconnected. The Ohm meter set on resistance should only read in one direction. If it is either open or shorted in both directions then the diode has failed. Without a model number is it difficult to state exactly where the diode assy is in your unit. Most of the time they are located either on the bottom INSIDE of the chassis or on the chassis inside the back panel.

I made popcorn last night and my microwave worked perfectly. This morning it will not heat a cup of coffee. What's up with that? What can I do to fix it. It is part of a matching set. Kitchenaid micro over...

When unplugging it for half a minute or so (this should reset all settings) won't help, it must be defect. When you are convinced you did press the right buttons and you are in the correct program you don't need to unplug. But for that you have to be sure it is not switched to oven. In 30 seconds it won't be warm enough to heat your coffee

How do I cook oatmeal in my goldstar microwave?

Heat water to boiling, instead of heating the oatmeal for instant oatmeal. Add heated water to panel and cover bowl to maximize steam effect.

I have a GE Spacemaker Over-The-Range Microwave Model #JVM1533WD002 that has worked perfectly for 10 years. Now everything still works, except it doesn't heat the food. Where is the fuse located and how...

A common symptom of a failed magnetron is a failure to heat with everything else (magnetron fan, stirrer, timer, etc.) working fine. Check the GE manufacture date for the unit on its nameplate to determine the age of the magnetron. For GE models of the past, magnetrons had a 10 year parts replacement warranty. Magnetrons can be expensive, so you need to weigh all your options, i.e., repair versus replacement, before you commit to one solution.

Microwave won't heat for first minute - starts working normally after that.

The magnetron may be defective. You can replace the magnetron, there is no other possibility.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

GE microwv-doesn't heat, strong electrical smell, all else ok

The most common problem would be your magnetron. Check your purchase date, magnetron's usually have a five year warranty. Not a part I recomend trying to fix yourself (high voltage ).
