Black out

In most cases, the problem is caused by faulty filter capacitors in the power supply. You can open the back and replace the capacitors that look bulged and leaky or replace all the electrolytics in the power supply board. If it continues to turn off like that, the tubes are at the end of their service life.

If you have no desire to buy a new monitor at that point, the tubes are able to be replaced, but for overall simplicity- just order the replacements aet up for your specific monitor from Dell. Make sure they have the boots, the plastic attachments and connector for "drop in" use. If the tubes require connectors to be soldered on, it gets tedious and is not worth it from a standpoint of shop time..

I turn on my samsung syncmaster710 and it just has a black screen, with a faint (very faint box floating around it. is this a fualty backlight?

The backlight invertor seems to be defective.
Check the main power supply board for bad capacitors (visible damage ) and make sure that the invertor tubes do not light up for a moment when you power up the monitor ( in that case their probably is one or more light tube defective (burnt)) --

Monitor comes on then after 2 seconds screen goes black then if i turn it off again then repeat the process does the same thing

hi,

the power supply of the light tubes is not working well
you need to replace the capacitors of the power suply
the value of the capacitors are bethween 220/40V 470/40V normal theire are 2 pieces.
you will find this in the bak of your screen after removing the cover, its near the tube connectors located.

greetings

Lcd screen shuts down

the powersupply for the tubes is defect.
you have to replace some electrical condensators
( elco) I think betwheen 100/40V and 470uF/25V
you will find different piece's inside
look near the transformers on the bcp where the wire for the tubes is connected. just replace them and it will work

Static noise on all radios in house including transistor unit. Turn off monitor static goes.

you have a problem with the power supply. this model has ex external switching power supply like on some laptop. 12V 3.5Amp positive tip output. To test this you would have to plug the Power supply unit and put a load on it other than the monitor. Not easy to do if you know noting about electronics.
You can get some made for laptops and other things like external hard disk.
There is also the inverter inside the monitor that drives the small fluorescent tubes . this could also create the noise. One way or an other you will have to replace the part.

My Dell monitor gives sharp noise when started without connecting to the CPU.When system has started it works fine. Can I know how to solve it please ?

Hi!
I used to have a monitor similar to yours, from the noise you are describing is it like a crack? or an high voltage electrical spark/arc? (Mini lightening flash sound).
The Monitor I had De-gaussed each time it was switched on this is a weird thing that lines up the colour guns. If done whilst in use it gives the brief appearance of a shimmy/shake to the screen.
Have you a menu bar on or near the power on/ off switch? if you do try looking for De-gausse it may inadvertently become switched on to auto. You can De-gausse manually.
I do hope this helps.

The monitor brings a 10cm thick line after powering on

this type of problem is may be due to the magnetic appliances near by ur monitor such as speakers etc... try keeping the speakers away for some distance and then in the monitor there will be one menu just press that and then go to degauss and give degauss... your problem will be solved...

if problem persists then may be the tube is gone just visit the technician ... he may tell u that he must recharge the tube....
