i replaced the switch and rectifier but still trips breaker, think i mixed wire on both

I've got the same problem. I wired it like the picture except the plastic covered red and black leads opposite. It ran for 30 seconds then quit. The white wire was really hot. I let it cool down switched the white and covered black leads. It ran this time for only 10 seconds then tripped the breaker. Once breaker was back, the mower wouldn't start at all. Do I have to rewire everything? Thanks for listening! Anne

The white wire has broken loose from a rectangular ceramic box glued to the side of the motor housing. How do I reattach it.

Hi,
Here is the correct layout for the wiring of the 681064-01switch. Iknow this as I have this same mower and it works fine, now. Before taking the switch apart, look at the leads to the brushes down by the motor. where the wire from the brushes joins the plastic coated wire, vibration or heat can make this break,UNDER THE INSULATION, and then everything quits. I spent an afternoon tracing this down and once repaired the mower works well.

    Let's try this another way.
Hold switch with button at bottom and with terminals facing you.

    Upper left tab- black
    Lower left tab- black
    Upper right tab(angled) -red
Tab at bottom parallel to button - white

looking down at the terminals, rotate push-button to the right. the wiring sequence is R, W at the top, then Black (in, from power source) , Black (out, to motor).

The "wedge" of the plastic lever wears, so you need to replace the lever or build up that section of the lever. Some cyanoacrylate (Super Glue / Krazy Glue) and a piece of a zip tie will work.

Switch diagram needed

Funny, I came here because I just opened up the switch case on my MM875. Hold the switch so the terminals are on top. Call the black switch (the part you push in to power up the mower) north. The north post gets white (metal connector). The west post gets red (plastic connector). The east post gets the black that comes from the mower's motor (plastic connector). The south post gets the black that comes from the outlet (metal connector)
(Black Plastic Switch)
White (Metal)
Red (Plastic) Black (Plastic--from motor))
Black (Metal--from outlet)

B&D MM850 starts then stops a few seconds later, then won't start

I was having a similar problem. I tried starting it up with the switch case open. I saw a very tiny puff of smoke come out of the switch. I replaced the switch and it was fine.

MM850 MOWER

can't just replace the switch with on-off.original switch has interlocking with brake, once u pull the trigger the brake circuit will open & close when triggger is release. it is also parts of safety.must common problem is inside the switch terminal eventually the contact will burnt.
