Magnavox model number 42mf230A/37

I am swaping out tvs for my main one and the magnavox was working fine until we put it in the new location. when i plug it in the power light is red meaning it is off and then when i turn it on the light turns blue but i cannot do anything on the tv not even turn it back off without unplugging it. I also dont have a remote for it but the mode and menu on the panel used to work to get into the tv menus. Any suggestions?

Same Problem. I can plug in tv and try to power it up. Sound will come on for a few sec and you will hear 2 clicks. and it shuts off. The power light on front is still on and blue. At this point you have to unplug the tv to try to power it on agine. If you get it on it works great. Just dont turn it off. I took the back cover off and when you power it on 2 green leds come on and when it clicks off a red led light comes on. Any thoughts. Thanks

I have a 42MF230A/37. It has worked great for 2 or 3 years. Then I decided to move it to another spot in the living room. It seems the new outlet works fine. But the TV works for 10 minutes, then shuts off. I can turn it right back on, but it will shut off in 10 minutes. Ugh.

When we turn the unit on, the screen stays blank but the sound works. Before, we try two or three times and the picture came. Now only have a sound.

Magnavox/samsung 42MF230A/37 plasma t.v. turns on, no picture.

the only way to check it is to change out boards. the "sugar cubes" are ceramic resistors and should get hot. if you have the correct voltages on the p/s then you will need to replace both the y and z boards. better off buying a new tv. consider letting a professional tech. check it for you, this is not something to be tried unless you know what you are doing. if you really want to do it yourself get the service manual and a voltmeter.

Replace lower scan converter PCB, which plugged into Y-Sustainer Board, located to the left of the display if you poke back cover open. There are 2 of them, but in some models might be the one, long PCB.don't wait to fix it! otherwise, you will knock out Y-
Sustainer and upper scan converter. That will cause you to spend few hundreds to fix it.
Good luck,

I had the same problem with an Insignia 42" 1080p. Turn off the tv power and disconnect all cables (i started with power cable, then HD cables then HDMI). Wait 30 seconds with nothing plugged in, then I plugged everything back in (in reverse order) and it works fine.

One of the driver IC'S has gone bad. Need to replace just the driver IC or the board that the IC is on and that should solve your problem. If that doesn't do it, then the BAD NEWS IS THAT THE PANEL IS BAD. Replacement is you only option then. Good luck. GURU JAY.
