Ts 4500 blades not moving

The motor will keep running but the blades are not moving, I have not been able to open the shredder to see what is going on. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I took the shredder apart and saw that the plastic gear that is run by the motor was broken and worn away. The motor works perfectly but without that plastic gear the shredder is useless. It would be a shame to throw away an otherwise perfectly good shredder. There must be a way somehow to order the part?

The motor runs but it won't shred paper. I need new gear bushings for a Tech Solutions TS6000 but have no idea where I can get the parts. Any ideas?

There is a plastic gear on the motor shaft that turns the shredder cutters. The teeth get destroyed after a couple of jams. Generally you can not buy a replacement gear and the shredder it junk.

From the sound from your description, it is Probably a cracked gear or a worn bushing.

To get a better idea, you would have to take it apart to see what is going on inside.
Good luck

I have read over and over the four-page manual for my TS-4500 shredder and I cannot find information about preventive maintenance such as oiling the mechanism and/or blades. Surely, there must be a means...

Shreddrs do need to be oiled approximately every 30 minutes or so, of continuous use. Any shredder oil will do just fine. Squirt a little shredder oil onto a piece of paper that you wish to shred & feed it through your shredder. That is all you need to do to keep it oiled.

Have a tech solutions 4500. how do you lubricate it?

  1. Cross cut shredders require more frequent oiling versus the straight strip shredders. The more paper and use it gets the more oil it requires. A good rule of thumb is to oil the machine each time you change the bag.
  2. Use only shredder oil designed for the specific brand of paper shredder you have. Manufacturers design paper shredder oils to be heat tolerant for the cylinders and blades, and they calibrate them specifically for their machines.
  3. Spray, squirt or run a bead of oil across the blade opening. It shouldn't take more than a second or two to reach from one end to the other. Any more than that may result in too much oil applied. Quicker than that means there isn't enough oil to adequately lubricate the machine.
  4. Turn the paper shredder to "Manual" and run the gears in reverse for a few seconds, then turn the shredder on "Forward" or "Standard" mode. This ensures that you distribute the oil throughout the machine, and going in reverse first forces some of the dripping oil back up, and then the forward moving blades push it back through the gears.
  5. Oil a sheet of paper rather than the machine. Don't just run a bead of oil across the bottom of the sheet because the paper soaks up the oil and the oil may not reach all of the necessary parts. Instead, spray the whole sheet, or run a zigzag line across the paper and immediately send it through the shredder to oil it.

Reverse works, but will not run when paper is inserted.

Bad/dirty start switch, if you can get to it clean it with alcohol and blow it dry.(paper dust gets on the contacts)

look around on top or bottom for a decal or label covering. A lot of times there is a screw located under it, once you peel back the label.

Safety Interlock "Switch"

This is not the safety interlock switch. This flat bar keeps shredder paper from backfilling into the cutters. The safety interlock switch is a vertical slot on the body that a tab on the top fits into.

My shredder keeps running and won't stop in on/auto mode

Does the shredder have the electronic eye to sense paper? Sometimes dust will collect on the sensor causing it to keep running.
