Question about Mitsubishi WS-65809 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mom's tv first, my appologies, mom gave me wrong model #. should be very comparable.TV is model # ws-65869, serial #111756.the work order specifies that greenLED light blinking, no pix, no sound.here is his evaluation : part failure - disable set to check per STAC red arccing line on left side of tv,approx. 3 " wide, depending on wich channel she was on. SO, after finally getting this info,(that she didnt think mattered),she said repair was done by sears and he did remove the back, cleaned and saudered "something" that he thought would fix it, without charging something he said cost 400.00.he was on the phone with his tech support alot.mom says he was young, helpful, but a bit inexperienced.she thinks the tv is beyond repair. tv was purchashed march,2002..... I have called sears 8004myhome (did the work, not helpful at all)

Okay check the self diagnosis feature, Hold the input and menu buttons in at the same time on the set, hold for 5 seconds see if the set blinks 1-2 blinks pauses then blinks 1-4 blinks. If so let me know the number of blinks. If not check the following items in the power supply for being open or shorted.
R9A02 R9A22 R9A23
Check Q9A51 Q9A22 also its diodes D9A31 and D9A32
Also check the 3 fues F9Doo, F9A01 and F9A06
Also check the solder on T9A20 and the flyback . Let me know what you find.

Just have her push the device and menu buttons in together on the set itself. Some models have input instead of device.

Tv blinks out when front buttons are pushed. model#ws-65511

If the TV is turning on and working regularly, but power button does not shut down and buttons on TV do not work, then it is a faulty touch control (button) board on TV.

If instead the TV does not even turn on, then tv is on protection mode, in that case it can be any internal fault.

If instead the problem is with remote buttons, then it is either a faulty remote or a faulty IR sensor.

Yes, you need to replace the convergence output amplifier IC's. They can be ordered on line. After removing the back you must remove the circuit board which houses the amps. Then desolder them and install the replacemnts. If you are extremely lucky there won't be any re-alignment issues with the new amps. Then you should be good to go.

Your problem is not shown on schematic, C9A60 (470 pf @ 1000 v) capacitor and check and see if F9A04 & 05 are open. If so then its off to a whole different area. Do you have an email to send Sch.?
