If this laptop has wireless built in then all you have to do is puch down Fn key that is usually blue by left CTRL key and while holding it look at your F keys and find the one that looks like signal and push it and that is it Some new ones have started putting switches on front of laptops like a little slider switch. First one usually works.

I have a D-link wireless router and I can't get my lap top to find the wireless network? Can you help me get it working? My lap top is saying that I need to turn on my wireless capability and I don't know...

Check your laptops manual. There will be a switch on your laptop that will allow you to turn your wireless card on and off. Depending on the model of your laptop there will either be a function key combination or a slider switch. If you need more help then please post the make and model of your laptop with any followup questions you may have.

Where is the wireless card found in the dell lap top

Two possibilities:

1. the laptop has _NO_ built-in wireless capabilities -- you have to insert either a USB wireless-adapter or a PCMCIA wireless-adapter;

2. the laptop _DOES_ have built-in wireless capabilities, and the "mini-PCI" wireless card is somewhere underneath one of the "access" doors on the bottom of the laptop, or somewhere "under" the keyboard.
If it's there, leave it there -- don't try to remove it, unless you KNOW what you are doing!

Trying to connect desk top computer and lap top computer

There is only two ways to possibly connect both the desktop and the laptop in the network. That is to purchase a router so you can connect them both or a route with a wireless and then the laptop (Which most new ones have a wireless capability installed) can connect wireless from anywhere in the home. If you already have a Cable or DSL Modem it may have a wireless capability. Otherwise you would have to get a wireless modem. Hope this helps. Bud

Question on setting up two computers

Yes, I have pretty much the same setup at home. Wired desktop and wireless laptop. On the back of your wireless router, there should be 4 or 5 wired connections which you can use. You will only have to use the setup disk on one computer. Basically, the setup disk is for the router, not the computers, it simply guides you through the router configuration process. You can also do this manually, the manual for the router will give those instructions as well.

Set up...

Some laptops have a switch that must be toggle for the wireless to work. Check Control Panel/Admin Tools/Services to verify that the Wireless Zero Config is running.
