Wow a sight that may help me! 2000 S10 w motor 4.3 Vort. Initially would die at stops signs 3 min later would restart. Throw linkage by hand, bogs and starves for fuel. Dropped tank cleaned tank screen, and tank. Now it wont start at all.Started with fluid only. then died. Also back fired and started small fire which was quickly extighuished. Now it wont fire on fluid. No visible damage. Not sure off pressure at check valve but have good strong flow out of filter on frame for 4 seconds and shuts off. Fuel pressure regulator?Oil pressure switch?/. Crank sensor? Or no power to injector pump? PERPLEXED!!!!
Security light flashing after false start? Pass lock or loose wire in column. Google s10 pass lock. It should help. Iv had same prob in 97 s10. Was fixn to do a passlock bypass an noticed a loose wire.
I'd use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, key on engine off, 60--66 psi with spider fuel system.
Engine cranking did you visually check for spark at the spark plugs? Engine cranking is there a fuel injector pulse?https://s8.postimg.org/50arofh11/fuel_pump.jpg
Click on the link for fuel pump relay, you can check the fuse. At the fuel pump, gray wire is voltage, black is ground.

The first thing you need to check is your coolant level. If it is low then the Coolant Temperature Sensor will not be in coolant, but in air, or steam, but either way it will signal the computer that the engine is cold and therefore deliver a very rich fuel mixture, flooding the engine. It could also be the engine temp sensor itself, sending incorrect temp readings to the computer. Either way once the engine has been allowed to cool down, the false signal to the computer will be correct. If the truck is emitting black smoke once it warms up, then this would be another sign that the Engine temp sensor is bad.
Linkage on the trans needs adjusting to engage center fork link when springs are centered. Remove the boot over the shifter linkage to check adjustment.
starting problem ,takes 4-5 times turning over engine then blue smoke comes out of exhaust ,is very reliable when got started though - ive replaced battery/glowplugs-&-relay/ a recovery man says no power to glowplugs ? can you advise ?
i would check your ignition system. you would need a meter for this but look for broke or loose connections. if it was a fuel problem i dont think it would just start up after 20 minutes. or you might try your ignition switch. if its shorting or something then ya well it would cut your engine off real quick
I start my car it runs for about 15 min then dies then wont start again I charge the battery complete then start runs and idles good but dies in 15 to 20 min. I think it might be altenator
