Question about Sharp ll-m17w1u 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

Screen turns black after 5-10 minutes

My Sharp LL-M17W1U turns on and is fine for about 5 or 10 minutes then goes black (like if it was turned off) but the on (green) light remains on. I can't even switch between inputs after it goes black.

I left it on all night at work and when I got back to work one day, in the morning, the screen appeared black as if it was off.

Please help.

I have this very same problem, it just started happening yesterday.

Sharp Monitor LL-M17W1U is just two years old. After about 5 minutes the screen goes black and the green light remains on. I must turn back on with remote control or off/on button on the side. This turns it right back on, but then it goes dark again at different intervals. Have checked my PWR OPT in Operating System, it is set to NEVER turn off monitor. Do not know how to Check BIOS Power & Freq. as recommended on previous page. I was going to go out and purchase a new monitor today. But now I am wondering if it is a PC issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx Joe

It seems to not be a computer issue, but a problem directly with the monitor. Please someone help who know what they are talking about.

So I had the tubes replaced and now the screen has a turquoise screen that will not change in appearance. No more black, just turquoise. It does appear to have made progress. Nothing happens when I plug in vga input.

I have the same blackout issue with mine. It is NOT a computer issue but rather the monitor/tv itself. I have never had mine hooked up to a computer, I only use it as a tv. Does anyone have info on the fix?

Its highly likely that the inverter for the backlight is faulty
It is fairly unlikely that you will find the part but its a sharp part numbered 3bs0038011

In my unit it is the power supply module that was defective. Get a 2 amp 12 volt regulated power supply and wire samp power plug on to it and fire up your monitor. Something in the in line power supply regulator was at fault not the monitor, as the power supply could not supply enough current to sustain the whole unit.

Looks to me that this is a marlketing ploy. Come on, parts are not vailable to fix it!
In my case on power on the picture comes on for about a tenth of a second but is overlaid by a black frame like a PIP - then turns black completely.
I bought the montor some 3 years ago and it worked fine until about now.
Looks to me Sharp feels I should buy a new monitor.
Believe me, if I do, it will not be a Sharp.

I just started having the same problem too. I don't think it is a PC issue; the same thing will happen in the TV mode. Does the monitor have some type of protection circuit that is tripping prematurely?

Check the power options in os from control panel whether the option "turn off the monitor" is in "after 5 mins" if so make it never....

if not check in bios power and frequency control properties...

Computer was on, screensaver is from my photo file - it was running. I moved the mouse to get back to the screen I had previously been on, walked away for a minute, came back, the screen was black. ...

Windows 8 especially and sometime Windows 10 may have a black screen during an update for over 15 minutes with no indication that anything is happening.

Try complete power down by holding the power key for 10 full seconds. Consider unplugging power for a few seconds after that as well.

Re-connect power, press power button to turn on the computer then if the screen goes blank, give it a half hour before looking for another solution... it may come back to you.

Picture goes out right after turning on, have to

My 3 year old Sharp LC-40C32U would start up fine but within a minute would go dark (audio continued fine). For a while I could turn the set off and on again and it would be fine, but over time this became less effective. My solution, which has worked for a week now, was to a) unplug the set's power cord; b) after 3 minutes plug it back in and turn the set on; c) on the remote hit MENU and slide over to SETUP (3 clicks to the right if the screen is dark) and one up to RESET; d) hit ENTER and follow the prompts. This puts the set in it's factory configuration so you will have to rescan for channels. Worked for me.

Sharp light turns green thern turns yellow screen goes black

it is going into sleep mode, good luck with this.... i am currently asking how to get my hard drive to quite putting my monitor into sleep mode.

although it hasn't worked for me because my screen stays black, one of the options given to me is to try to start in safe mode and then adjust your settings to "never" on the energy/sleep/hibernate mode

some one else suggested that i remove and reseat the video card

hopefully one of those will work for you
