I just had the same problem. I took the battery out and put it back in and it worked for me.
what do you mean by taking out the battery? Is this the cord on the right side of the laptop? I also sometimes get a myseterious beep and the keyboard and pad freezes up and then i cant use the laptop and have to switch it off manually. Can anyone help?
I recommend the above listed solutions. It worked for me. Unplugged power cord and remove the battery while it's still hot. Wait about 10 seconds. Plug it again and boot up. Things will work the normal way. Can't explain why, but I think it's like a master reboot.
I had the same problem. As indicated above, I disconnected to power, removed the battery, reconnected the battery and restart the computer, then everything went fine.
Cheers
I did exactly the same. Remove the battery and put it again. It worked Perfect. I really apreciate your post it saves me a lot of time and maybe a lot of money repairing something that is not damage. THANKS.
Removing the battery from the laptop worked for me. I was going to send it in cause its still under warranty. Thought the keyboard was actually dead since it did not even worked to get into bios. I also tried a Linux live cd. Removing the battery worked lol. Strangest thing ever.

Microsoft's Elite Wireless keyboard and mouse is an excellent combination for use, according to your criteria. It costs less than $65.00 and is easily connected to replace a wired keyboard and mouse.
I have been using two of them for years now, and have never had a problem with them.
They eliminate excess wires, and work like a charm.

I unplugged USB and when I plugged it back in, my Belkin mouse will not respond. I have replaced the batteries - still won't work.
This seems to have happened gradually. Occasionally when i would wake the machine up the keyboard wouldn't respond when i typed the password. Now it has become a permanent problem. The touchpad also is unresponsive. I used an external keyboard and mouse successfully, but that defeats the purpose of having a compact laptop. Is this a common problem on this model?
wft. my computer HP pavillion DV2000 is doing the same thing. The laptop is on, working fine, but not one button on the keyboard is working. Did anyone find a solution to this? I have tried everything!
