To: CTF1800...nice try, but to no avail. I removed cartridge once with tv unplugged. Then again while plugged in...no reset message on start up. Should I wait until I get "change lamp signal", then retry? OR? Is there any way to find reset signal in menu items? thanks.

Take the lap back out and put back in

that lamp timers are only there to give you an idea that the lamp may fail soon. the tv will count to a certain number of hours and then give the message on screen. most tvs the number will be around 4000hours or so. i suggest using the tv until the lamp fails you may change a lamp that has many many many more hours when you dont need to. there is a timer that you can reset if you consult your owners manual so the message will not show up any longer.

According to the lamp manual you just need to power the set on with the remote and then press (and hold) the Vol - button on the front of the set, While holding the Vol- button on the front of the set press and hold the PIP button on the remote. Reseting the lamp meter on tv

1) Press the POWER button to turn your TV on. Make sure you are set to Cable/TV reception. If the "replace lamp. Reset Lamp timer" notice appears, press "EXIT" on your remote.
2) Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN BUTTON on the TV set (not the remote, the actual TV set)
3) Continue to press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button and press and hold the PIP (Picture in Picture) or SPLIT/PLAY button on your REMOTE control (your are pressing and holding BOTH of these buttons at the same time now).
4) After 5 or 10 seconds (be patient), the lamp serice menu will appear and say your lamp counter has been rest to '0' (zero). That's it, you are all done.

Now, I continue to have the power shut off after a few minutes of play. I think it is a problem with the cooling fan. Damn it all anyway.

Lamp meter on Panasonic PT-40LC12 ?

I just had my picture go out two weeks ago. I took it to a local tv repair shop. They replaced the thermal fuse. I also had a spare lamp so they also replaced that. I'm not sure if they reset the lamp meter but this is what I found surfing around...try at your own risk. I'm going to try this when I go home tonight.

Good Luck...

Press the power button to turn the unit on.
While pressing the Vol-(volume down) button on the projection display,
hold down the PIP button on the remote control at the same time for more
than 5 seconds. When the reset procedure is complete the following message
will appear on the screen. "Lamp time was reset to 0".
