Samsung HPR4252 with red horizontal lines accross the screen

I have a two year old Samsung HPR4252 with red horizontal lines accross the screen making the picture quality viewable but poor. The screen is visibly divided into 6 horizontal sections of equal size. The Y main board was replaced but did not fix problem. Any suggestions?

I have multiple red, horizontal lines on my 2 year old HP-R252 as well. It just happened a few hours ago and I just started to look into it. Any info would be helpful. The TV was 2 years old exactly two weeks ago.

Plasma TV is less than 2 years and 2 months old - same issue; six sets of horizontal red lines

Out of the blue, my tv started showing horizontal line. It's under 2 years old. Do i bring it to best buy for service?

same there, broken up into 6 sets though like someone else mentioned.......anyone try the buffer replacement? or logic/x mainboard replacements??

  • ricksebeck Sep 28, 2008

Has anyone figured this out. I downloaded the service manual and  I'm about to order the X board, y board and logic board from partstore.com and try each one.  Return the ones that don't help.  I'm ruling out the buffers, since it seems they only effect the respective quadrant.  lower, upper, left, right, and this is across the entire screen.

This sucks that tv repair has become the "do it yourself" or "just buy a new one".

So I bought a new X main board and logic board from partstore.com. I installed each one separately and neither one solved the problem.  Now I think I am going to buy the buffers.  Any one else get theirs diagnosed by a professional?

My 42" HPR4252X/XAA has the upper 1/3 horizontal multicolored (but mostly red) lines, mid screen has about 3" horizontal of clear picture, and bottom 2/3 has same red/multicolored lines. You can see the picture thru the lines and they tend to bleed colors upward as scene changes. Someone suggested elesewhere that replacing both buffer boards might fix this. Anyone have results?

I just had my HP-R4252 repaired on 12.05.09 with a similar problem. The picture is covered in horizonal, broken lines and the color is predominately red. They lines are grouped together in large bands across the screen.

The tech replaced the Y-Buffer boards (Up) and (Low) in about 20 minutes.

It's easy to take apart the tv there is many examples on you tube I have the upper red 2 inch bar across the top of the screen i researched and it looked like the y sustain board. But it was not I put in the brand new board and same problem. If the y sustain board is broken you have no picture. But there is an upper and alower board attached to this. The upper is for the top part of the screen and the were is for the bottom. Unfortunately I learned the hard way and I will now have to replace the upper buffer meanwhile my tv is sitting in my leather couch.

A professional saw my TV today and said it was the buffer and was going to cost me $600 to fix. What is the cost of a buffer and could someone with limited knowledge replace it? Is it similar to installing a hard drive or mother board on a pc?

Similar problem. Technician ran diagnostics and said it's a tcon board. Tech needs to see if the tcon board is integrated into the panel or a seperate board. Unit is still under warrently so we'll have to see how this plays out.

That sounds correct, I just have to work on SONY BRAVIA KDL-40BR4 with Horizontal lines problem on ther right side, you you tap around the frame, the lines will come and go, this is only 2 years old TV! Poor quality panel made by SONY/SAMSUNG company jointed venture.
Very sad indeed when you paid for BRAVIA series which are not cheap.
New screen will cost more than new TV.

Lines down screen

We have a Samsung LE32A457, whilst we were watching T.V tonight the top halve of the screen suddenly appeared with green lines halfway down the screen and that half of the picture was unwatchable, T.V is 2 years old. We have removed all scart leads but this did not help and the problem still exists, when shutting down a white horizontal line across the centre of the screen appears from this line upwards the picture is faulty. Any help or advice would be grateful.

Samsung Plasma TV - picture has 6 sections of horizontal lines

All I can say is when you watch T.V. the plasmas run off of plasma gas and when you leave something on for so long it burns in the screen. I have the same T.V. and when watching like the weather channel it leaves lines but they go away. If yours are permanent then you can't do anything, but it may help if you go on your remote and go to "menu" then look for "setup" and scroll down with the arrows on your remote. Look for "screen burn protection" and select "white screen". This will make your whole screen white and it may take out the lines. If you let it sit white it won't hurt it. All one color won't hurt, the only thing that hurts is like bright white lines in front of a dark background. Just give your T.V. a break from time to time ESPECIALLY ON VIDEO GAMES. T.V. shows that are HD usually have their channel icons that move or are very dim and they won't hurt. Just go to what I told you and let it sit about 20 minutes, if that doesn't help, then the T.V. you have i believe comes with a 2-year standard warranty and if it's under warranty take it back if you have the reciept. If no reciept then call 1-800-SAMSUNG.
