Question about Logitech Z-2300 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Power supply. Hi. I'm from the UK and have recently opened my z-2300 speakers box. Just about completed set-up when I realised that the plug supplied is not compatible for the UK mains. Now i dont know if its been packaged wrong or if i need an adaptor or what, but these speakers are 230v of power, so dont know if using my converter is safe. Help!!!

Well, yeah, but this converter is for like shavers and toothbrushes etc. Are the Z2300 speakers supposed to come with an American power supply in the UK? Because I dont want to use my little converter on these beasty speakers for them to blow up, when it might just be a packaging fault and a new cord is in order.

Thanks for your help, I found a UK plug from my radio that was 250v. The same as on the American plug (which they sent) So yeah, thanks because these are the best speakers ever =)

Of course yes, the purpose of the converter is to convert the power output to desired voltage.

be sure that you will use a transformer that converts 230v to 110v.

you didnt say that you are using a shaver adapter.

Worked great for years. Now, won't turn on. Plugged in and all connections checked. Light at on switch does not turn on.

Next step would be to check for power from the wall wart (external power supply). Note the output voltage indicated on the power supply, then check for that approximate voltage with a multimeter.

A replacement power supply can be found at most electronics retailers. Make sure the polarity matches, ie positive tip or negative tip, and the plug must match dimensionally. Make sure a replacement can supply the current that the original did (rated in milliamps - MA, or amps A). Ideally an exact replacement would be best if that is the issue. Be careful, and don't crack open that power supply!

HELP ! No/limited volume from satellite speakers

1. Make sure all wall and power outlet switches are on and that all switches for your speaker system are on. Cycle the power switch.(switch is located on the back of the subwoofer) Check power LED on left and right speakers. Is the LED on? If not, power is not getting to your speaker system. Make sure the power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet. 2. Ensure that the speaker input jack is pushed all the way into the appropriate jack. Check all the connections and secure them. 3. Check the connection to the soundcard. Make sure it is connected to the proper jack. This varies from each soundcard manufacturer. (Please refer to your soundcard manual.) 4. Your volume settings are too low or muted. Increase your volume by pressing the + key located on top of the right satellite. You can also check your volume through the volume control located in the taskbar. To mute and unmute the speakers, press the + and - controls at the same time.

the part that is for your problem
This is an indication that the satellite speakers are not plugged in all the way to the subwoofer. You will hear a slight "snap" sound if they are plugged in all the way. The inputs are color coded and shape coded (triangle and square). Make sure they are aligned properly.

Speaker buzzing at random

It sounds like the socket on your computer is becoming worn or has a loose solder joint.

If you feel comfortable with a fine tipped soldering iron and stripping your computer down I would take a look there first.

Also check the power supply for the speakers to make sure it is not getting too hot.

Just wondering what the power supply output JBL Media 3 Speakers

I have a pair of Media 3 JBL computer speakers. I am using a generic 12V DC adapter rated at 1000mA with a positive tip polarity, and it works fine.

One speaker wont work

if u have experience with the soldering of the terminals then you can open the speaker casing of the sub woofer and then solder the right speaker input wire.

dont do this if you have no previous experience and DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY before doing any work inside.

maybe the first step could be checking the subwoofer's fuse.it is located over the power supply connector.
