not sure what you mean. the dvd and cd are built into the dva 8700. also under audio settings rear speakers are grayed out which means i can not activate them. please walk me through the steps neccessary as there is no mention in the book about setting up the cd and dvd menu.

im looking now for you what you need to do is turn the surround sound on as it looks like it is just in stereo sound mode bare with me foe few minutes ok

  • paul proctor Feb 05, 2008

Hi What you need to do is enter setup mode then goto audio setup then in this menu select suround sound or 5.1 or 6.1.
If you dont have this menu option on your model then its going to be on a button on cotroll you will either have an audio buton try pressing this whilst playing a film or you might have a different button depending on your model it might have a button with a circle and half circle on the button press this this should then tell you what sound mode your in keep pressing untill you get the surround sound option.
If you still have the manual it will be in their just look under the remote section as it will tell you what the surround sound button is. ive tried looking for your manual online and cant find one but ill look again if this has given you no help just let me know ok ill look now again for you ok

  • paul proctor Feb 05, 2008

Hi there

when playing radio, the rear speakers do work because you have configured that. in your dvd player however, you may not have configured it yet.

Correctly insert the jacks at the back of the dvd player and at the same time, check the menu of your dvd player and check the audio settings. Under the audio settings of your dvd player menu, select the 5.1 or 6.1 audio profile.

hope this helps.

be sure also that the dvd/cd youve insert supports the type of audio setup you want it to. because some dvd formats does not have surround sound but only stereo sounds.

    hi larry12

youve mention here that under audio setup, you can see "speaker setup, dolby digital setup."

    heres what you can do,

under the speaker setup, be sure that you pre selected stereo as this will determine the sound quality of your shows.

under dolby, look for any settings there that requires you to identify surround sound which has a rear speakers, mid...etc..

in essense, all you need to do is identify which audio setup you want to use since you already have a surround sound hardware. the only thing thats left is to manually setup the surround sound settings which you can do in audio settings.

so just try and try because its all there.

    hope this helps. :)

BH7520TW cordless rear speakers not working

if you having this problem when playing music, this is perfectly normal 'cos music only gets played through 2 speakers (2.0 audio format)..if this happens when playing a movie, you have to check if the movie (through the disc menu) is in 5.1 audio format which is surround sound through all the speakers..

Lg lht854....wont play sound out of rear and center speakers

Try setting it first on surround mode because it is normal for the rear speakers not to come on when it is the surround mode is off. For the center speakers make sure it is hooked up properly. Follow the instruction if you have one. Lastly I never heard of center speakers have two speakers in it but if it does and you only have one set of wire to it then one of the speakers is no good.

The rear and centre speakers are not working but the front and subwoofer speakers are working. What do I need to do to get the three working. In the booklet it says the rear speakers might not work becasue...

From them manual Troubleshooting section:

"When listening to a CD or radio, sound is output to the front
speakers (L/R) only. Select "PRO LOGIC II" by pressing
PL II (Dolby Pro Logic II) on the remote control to use all
six speakers.
• Make sure that the DVD disc is 5.1-CH compatible.
• If you set C, SL, and SR to NONE in the speaker mode in the
audio setup of the setup screen, no sound is heard from the
center speaker and the rear left and right speakers. Set C,
SL, and SR to SMALL."

This means you might want to check your speaker settings again and make sure the Cenyer and Surrounds are defined.

No sound from centre speaker on my Bose Lifestyle 8 series 2 system. I've checked leads and speakers by swapping them around. If it is the Acoustimass module which units are compatible?

Check your audio settings, via the on-screen menu. The center channel may be turned down. When set at -5 to -8, the center channel speaker may be practically inaudible. If raising the volume of the center channel does not solve the problem, then you do have a dead center channel. The system would then be in need of repair.

No voice sound through speaker with DVD system, only music?

first check the settings on the audio menu of the dvd player. make sur it is set to 5.1 (if available) otherwise set it to stereo and your system should decode it.
assuming the second step is okay : as other dvd you play seem to work) it still may be that your unit is decoding stereo inputs just fine and 5.1 is not working properly....
so if adjusting audio settings in dvd play back menu dont work,
check that the cables to the satellite speakers are connected correctly and all plugged in soundly ( voice is high frequency,- coming from satellites - the garbled noises you hear are the base ( low freq) elements of voice which are coming from the bass box ( that the X.1 part of 5.1) and so that is obviously working. ,
