Question about Panasonic KX-TG5632 Phone

Answering phone system cannot handle nuisance calls

With this new phone, if we get a nuisance call, identified by caller ID, we let it ring until the answering system cuts in. Then the phone seems to be recording, but it soon gives a dial tone and the operator saying "If you want to make a call, please hang up and dial again." The only way to shut this off is to answer the call and then hang up the phone. We get about two or three of these a day. We tried to solve this by increasing the rings before recording from 4 to 5. No help.

With our earlier phone, we occasionally got the same situation (dial tone and auto message), but most of the time the robocall hung up before this all started. Maybe had this situation once a week.

Is there something in the Panasonic answering mechanism that keeps it active until the dial tone and auto operator come on?

At the end of all calls picked up by the answering machine, we get the "If you'd like to make a call" recorded message - even after the ones that successfully leave a message. This is for the KX-TG5634 model.

You need to have Caller ID from your phone Co. 1st. Then when you get a call the number shows up as the phone rings. The handset also has a button called,CID,which you can press and see the last 100 calls you've recieved:)

Incoming call does not show in caller id window all the time. sometimes it simply says "incoming call" without identifying the caller. other times is works proberly.

Caller ID information is sent after the first full ring. If the call is answered too soon, the caller ID information may not have been sent yet. Some of the many and varied networks do not send caller ID information. In this case you may notice that caller ID is missing only on calls from certain callers. Occasionally bad data is sent, causing your phone to reject it.

This is the info from the users manual, it seems a bit strange,
but claims if you set the number of rings before it answers, (for the answering system) to "2" it will stop the audible caller ID.
Here it is from the manual.

If you turn on the answering system
and set the number of rings “2” (page
38), the unit does not announce the
caller information. If “Toll saver” is
selected and there is a new message,
the unit does not announce the caller
information.
When you receive a call while on the
phone, the 2nd caller’s name is not
announced even if you subscribe to
both Caller ID and Call Waiting with
Caller ID services

INCOMING CALLS

Not sure it this is a solution for ALL your problems, but...

I had a similar issue: Phone rings, caller ID info displays then seems to hesitate, then displays only "INCOMING CALL."

The issue seemed to be caused by interference with other devices on the same line (in my case, an alarm system).

Tech support had me change a setting on my TRU9466 base unit (this is one of the PowerMax 5.8ghz models). This is how we did it step-by-step on the base unit:

MENU
GLOBAL SETUP
IN-USE LINE SETUP
select LINE 1
switch to TYPE B

This seems to have solved the Caller ID "interference" issue -- my Caller ID now displays as it should. The Tech Support person suggested trying that TYPE A/TYPE B setting on "OFF" if TYPE B didn't solve the problem, but thankfully, it did.

Now Cheryl, it sounds like your issue is more involved than this -- I didn't have any connection problems -- but perhaps they're related -- you might try my solution.
