My Hitachi 50V500 does not turn on

When I turn the TV on, I hear a short rattling sound coming from the back of the TV. When I turn the 'Power on' button it the indicator light goes running through all the three indicators - power, temp and lamp on the front tv panel. After a while of doing that the inidcator sits on 'lamp indicator' and does nothing then shuts down. does this mean that the lamp is dead?

I have the 60V500A and have the same problem as described. After about 10-20 tries of turning on and off, it will sometimes turn on. The "popping sound" from the back comes from the left back (looking at the TV) which also seems to cause a light or spark (something) that I can see through the vent. Any suggestions??

Most likely...Just remove cover on left side and take a look at the lamp and go from there. I may have one in stock if you need it. You will also need a philips screwdriver.. Happy repairing. Guru Jay

It sounds like a heat problem, i think you are going to have to call out service engineer to read the error codes.
Could be power supply or the control board.

Hitachi 50V500, no picture ,sounds for about 15 sec.then goes off

Hello,

I would try to re-seat the lamp. Pull the lamp out, check it to see if it may have gone bad again, then put it back in to make sure the contacts are connected. Before applying power, unplug the TV for 5 minute, and then plug in/turn it on.

Most lamps, if bad from the factory, will go out within 3 months of use. It does happen, and happens more often than you would think.

Try this, and see what happens. Good luck.

Hitachi 50v500 goes black and then comes back on.

Sounds like the light engine. They are having major problems with it, but Hitachi is replacing the part for free, with you paying for the installation. Need to call Hitachi customer relations.
