Yes! (the lens or disc) or it could be a power spike if it's only when played loud. try using an anti surge plug. How old is the system? you may have a capicitor breaking down.

Henry Kloss Model 88CD cd player skips. how to fix?

The laser assembly moves from the inside of the disk to the outside as it plays. You can try to clean the rails that the assembly moves on. If there is something stuck to it, it can cause the laser to have a hard time moving and cause skipping. try cleaning with cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol.

The cd player goes into a "skipping" "playing really fast" mode occasionally. Esp. 3rd track, 1st cd. Always has.

It's having trouble reading the CDs. The thing that reads it could be dirty. But try a different cd. The CD player is getting old and if there is even a small scratch it will be hard to read it. A new CD player would be the way to go

Sony cdp cx 355 skips on first track

Could be some dust or debris in the unit. Also be careful that you are not putting fingermarks near the hole section of each CD you put in, as the CD plays from the centre out.

I have a Philips Kitchen CD Clock Radio #AJ6111. The CD's skip all the time. I just bought a new CD, played it in my car player, came home and wanted to play it in my Kitchen CD player and all it does is...

The skipping problem you are experiencing may be related to the shaft that the laser assy rides on. It may need a little greasing with silicon grease, just a litte bit. Or it could be the spindle motor is wobbling as it turns. If you are a little tech savy, then you can order a new CD drive assy through Ebay and swap it out when it arrives. If you get this far you need to know how to remove the solder short on the new assy otherwise the new drive will not work.

Durabrand model cd-968 mp3 anti-skip cd player Does skip...

I understand what you are saying. The Durabrand is very cheaply made and the ani-skip actually does not work near as long as stated by company. I would buy more expensive player or a different brand.
Look for 60 Second Anti-Skip if you want a good one.

Cd's skip

all the rca's have been released without quality control... you will have to open and adjust the potentiometers (the adjustible resistors on the main board) to re-calibrate the laser timings. However the way that the boards are mounted inside the boombox's chassis you will need to take apart everything to be able to reach the main board (inside vertical right side board with large heatsink and fan) without causing a short (as to be able to properly adjust these you need to have a cd playing and the whole thing needs to be upright.
I would recommend throwing it all way, not worth the time if you don't have the patience.
