CT-36D32 36" TV This is my T.V. I moved it, watched the super bowl and moved it back. One city block in an Astro with good suspension and no bumps. I took it easy. I pressed power on the remote and got a high pitch whining tone constant from the lower back left of the tv. No degauss no screen flicker no Sound nothing but That noise. I can unplug it and the releay drops out and the noise goes away. Plug it in, I hear the relay engage then a halfway degauss. Not even a flicker in the screen in the dark of the night... How wird is this???? email@example.com
Jdosk-the high pitch noise you hear is generally from the horizontal output being shorted, the horizontal output is usually near the flyback transformer, get a digital multimeter to checkthis part.Let me know I'll try to help. cooltek Feb.16/08

Hi. Yes, if you pulled the projection lamp and it is burnt-out, then yes. This should indeed fix your problem. I'm sorry that it had to happen to you in the middle of the Super Bowl, it's turning into quite a good game. Right now as I post this..it is GB 28...PITT 25 3:00 to go 3rd quarter...GB is 1st and goal from 8 uard line.
I hope you can get it to work again, but unless you have an electronics store that is A within a couple of blocks of you, and B OPEN...then you won't have it going again before the end of the game.
Easy repair with some Super glue.Must take the tv back cover out.The FBT-the big block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT(tv tube). It have a high voltage gap going through a "3 inches paper clip steel bar on a FBT the big black plastic block.Put some super glue on that "3 inches paper clip steel bar on that big black plastic block.Should stop the high voltages gaps through that "3 inches paper clip steel bar causing a high pitched noises.
No,unplug wait a couple mins, and replug that ur reset. Most of these prob.are all related to the high voltage prob. That FBT,the flyback transformer. The big block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to ur CRT(tv tube). It cold solders,it dying or dead.
The power surge has caused a failure of an internal component. If it is making this noise it is possible the line output transistor has failed. I would advise calling a service repair centre & have someone there take alook at it. All being well this may be the only problem. Power surges can sometimes cause other faults.
The high pitched sound is probably comming from the power supply, possibly due to its trying to drive voltage into a shorted component in the high voltage deflection circuits. You may be lookng at about a $250 repair. If it has been used a lot and its picture quality didn't knock your socks off, I would replace it with a HDTV set. A 37 inch LCD from Toshiba might be a good place to start and should do nicely for you.
